Anyone have experience with SeaMiles credit card (Chase) or any of the others than earn points toward cruising? At first glance, it looks good...what's the "fine print?"

I know Carnival has a credit card; and I've recently received info for a Princess credit card. Can HAL be far behind?

I have a SeaMiles card. Last holiday season they ran a promo were 5000 points resulted in a $300 gift card. I am hoping to use that gift card towards a HAL cruise next year. By looking at the SeaMiles booking site you can use the points towards a large variety of lines including, DCL, RC, CCL, HAL etc.. I was particularly suprised to see DCL on the list, as usually they don't participate in non- disney items. Anyway I can't speak for the actual booking process yet as I won't book till later this fall.

You need to check because some TA's may only value the points at 75%, etc.

I have never heard of the "SeaMiles" card. Can the points be used for ship board credit? I do have the Princess rewards card and should have a few hundred dollars for ship board credit when I take our first Princess cruise next May. That should cover my auto tip and some spa time :D Oh and maybe a bottle of bubbly;)

and get 5000 miles towards a first class seat that is never available. When I used the United travel agent I got 2 additional miles /$ but they are gone.

Oh that is certainly the truth!!!! I have almost given up on my United Miles. The only one that still serves me well is my Southwest Rapid Rewards.

I believe that if you book well in advance you can still use miles. We just booked round trip tickets on American Airlines to Oahu using miles.

I'm under the impression the points can be used toward the cost of a cruise. I'll have to read it more carefully to see how it works...I thought someone here may have had experience with it...I hate having to read all the fine print!

I have a Jet Blue card and lost two passes in July. I've had the card for two and 1/2 years, and hadn't used or transferred the passes to anyone...what a waste. We haven't flown because we've taken the Noordam out of NYC for two cruises. Their advertising says, "you never lose points." I confused that with "passes." And, I'm still not sure what good "not" losing points does when I have in fact lost passes!

Most of those cards carry lots of fine print. And it takes thousands of points (dollars spent) to achieve anything significant. And FF miles are harder and harder to redeem. As Lisa says, SWA is one program you can count on.

I'd suggest you just get a card that pays cash back and then use that however you wish.

I guess that proves everything sounds better than it actually is!

We do have the Jet Blue card, and I did have two passes to use for our flight to Fort Lauderdale in January...and because they knew I was not a happy camper having just lost two passes in July, they threw those in to boot.

We do have a AAA card that we use for gas, and gives a rebate.

I mostly use my Marriott VISA credit card and have taken 2 FREE 10 day cruises HAL (except for taxes and ports). Actually they weren't free because we upgraded to S Suites.

Without going into detail, I've had the card and it has some of the worst rewards out there. Save yourself a lot of fine print and gotchas and as JHannah said, get a card that offers rewards in CASH.

I'll check into that...thanks for the info! ;)
