We are thinking of doing the revised Zuiderdam itinerary this week leaving tomorrow for Key West, Cozumel and Costa Maya. What do you think the sea conditions will be because of all the hurricane activity? Thanks.

Have you called and inquired from HAL? You may not be able to simply "book and go".
Under the new port security requirements, all cruiselines must submit their passenger and crew manifests to the authorities at least 48 hours (and it might even be more hours) in advance so there is a shut off point when no new pax can book. IF you were currently a pax aboard the ship, you could stay as you would already have been cleared when you initially boarded.

Wow! An easier question to ask is who will win the Presidential debate this Thursday!
Based on today's news reports Jeanne is heading north thru Fla. However, as Ivan taught us, hurricanes do what they want. (Ivan reduced to a tropical depression, hooked around, built up again to hurricane force and again attacked the Gulf Coast.)
The later hurricanes, Karl (now in the far north Atlantic) and Lisa (now in the far eastern Atlantic), are not likely to be threats to your trip next week.
The answer to your question is that you are likely not to be affected, but who really knows?

Thanks for your response. We have been booked for a long time. But due to the hurricane HAL is offering us a full refund or sailing for 5 days on a revised western itinerary with a future cruise discount and shipboard credit. We have to let them know our decision by 3 p.m. today. We are tempted to go but a little worried about sea conditions. Do you think it will be okay?

I didn't understand from you first post that you were already booked. In that case.....GO!!! It sounds wonderful. Assuming you are able to get there, you'll have a great time.

Sail7Seas,
Thanks for your encouragement. We live in Fort Lauderdale so we will have no problem getting to the port. I wonder how many people will go. I am guessing it will be a pretty empty ship. I'll let you know when I return next week.

Sounds good. If I were you, I wouldn't hesitate.
We'll (hopefully) be boarding Zuiderdam on October 2.

Not sure what you've heard differently, but the weather in Ft.L is clear and there is no storm on the horizon anywhere near South FL for at least 10 days.

Ft Lauderdale -- Looking at the weather charts - looks great for flying on Thursday. Thursday and Friday should also be great in Ft Lauderdale for pre-cruise.
And the following week should be great in the Western Caribbean.
I think the weathermen have it right this time.
Have a great cruise.

Yes, I, too, have heard the weather should be good.
I know we have all become totally wrapped up (understandably) in FLorida weather, but there are always ALL the other reasons things don't go as planned. HOPEFULLY, we shall be healthy, we shall have no accidents or such etc etc and we shall fly to FLL to board Zuiderdam. :)
