View Full Version : Different colors of cabanas on HMC?

What is the difference in the colors. Does it have something to do with the location? Also, is the price of $219 the total price for 1-4 people? It really sounds like a very nice set up for being on the beach. This is our first time to sail with HAL and look forward to seeing HMC. Any other special information I might need to know will be appreciated.

Do a search with the key word cabana. A very nice person posted a great review of all the cabana's..with a map that shows their locations. There are a few cabana's with canvas sides vs the wooden structures. Having never been in either, I can't offer any opinion over what the difference is.

We have book a cabana for our upcoming Nov. cruise on the Volendam. We have the pink one booked. Our first HAL cruise last year our day at HMC was rain...we did take the tender over and took a quick swim in the rain..but it really was a miserable day so we went back to the ship. We hope this trip we will have sun..as we're looking forward to a relaxing day on the beach.

Yes, the price you listed is the current charge for the cabana.

I have no idea the imact the hurricanes have had on the cabana's ... I don't think we've heard from anyone post hurricanes that has visited the island. It is such a beautiful island, that I hope it didn't sustain too much damage.

Good luck with your decision!!

We tired to get one for our October cruise and they all showed to be available however when we went thru the booking process, it ended up showing waitlisted. We had to call them to find out they are all sold and we are waitlisted for which ever one becomes available.

Peggy Sue, Thanks so much for the info. I did the search and found lots of pictures of the different cabanas. We just booked the Sky Blue one for our trip in Jan, 2005. Sure seems the way to go if you are going to spend time ashore.

We had the pink cabana on our cruise in August. It was the best money we spent on the cruise - really had a great time and HMC is beautiful.

I booked the pink cabana for our party of four on the Westerdam 12/19/04 Christmas cruise. It's nice to know the cabanas are worth the $219. For a group of 4 it seems well worth it to me. Is anyone else on the board on this cruise? I hope the three thirty year olds I'm traveling with enjoy the cruise. We are all first time cruisers. We are calling this our "It's all about me" Christmas Cruise.:)

We booked the pink cabana for our Dec. 11 Zuiderdam cruise! We will take good care of it, if we get the chance. I am so looking forward to our day at HMC. Hopefully by December it will be cleaned up, rebuilt, and we will have a sunny day! :)

Have a great trip Karen. I do hope you have beautiful weather and like the Vista class ship. It sounds like quite an adventure just exploring them for the first time.

Here is a link where someone took pictures of the cabanas here on the message boards.

Gliles -- What ship and when are you sailing in October. We are on the Oosterdam on the 24th. We booked the Pink Cabana awhile ago, and when I did they said the Orange cabana was already booked. But while I was looking over excursions they had all the cabanas except the pink open, even the orange. So I wonder if they just don't keep the online booking site up to date.

That is most interesting that we all seem to have the Pink cabana reserved!! When I called to book this over a month ago they didn't have very many cabana's left.

Initially, our cruise was to stop at HMC the first day out. Now we stop the last day out. When I called to book, they couldn't help me because the date changes had not been passed to their system yet. However, another ship will be there with us and they were able to book. I called back a few days later and got the same story..so I pressed to try and have this fixed so we could book, as I was advised even fewer cabanas were available then my initial call. Customer Service was very nice and took care of it while I was on the phone..and we got our cabana booked.

We too hope they are worth the charge. We love the beach, but hate to cook..and DH gets sun burned quite easily. Last year we really paid the price after playing in the water at Dawn Beach for 2 hours without reapplying sunscreen.... Our sholders were so crisp...and the next night was a formal night. DH was a trouper with the tux..... We vowed to be a lot more diligent with sun screen this year!!

Anxious to hear the first reports back from folks who visit HMC post hurricanes!

Enjoy the Pink cabana everyone..we promise to take very good care of it. Too bad we couldn't leave a guest book there for everyone to sign!!

We are on the same one and even now when I go to the shore excursion link, it shows them all available as it did when we booked but it shows our as waitlisted. So we called and they said they are all sold out and we are waitlisted for whatever becomes available. Does yours show confirmed?

It is very interesting to read of the interest in the PINK CABANA. Although the color pink is not exactly a favorite of mine, the boss declared early on that all she must have on our cruise is a "little pink cabana by the sea", so we booked the pink cabana for our November 20th sailing on the Maasdam. We will also have a butler bringing champagne and drinks to the surf for the day as I read somewhere in here that it is the second farthest cabana and I did not want to spend the day hoofing back and forth to the bar area. I am keeping my fingers crossed that Lisa, Jack, Boobie or whatever the next hurricane is called, does not set it adrift to Cuba. I am in Florida on business and have been here for several months and am wore out trying to keep our property protected. It is a mess, but far worse, farther down in south Florida.
Maybe the pink cabana has a "mystical" presence !! I hope so.

Actually, it's the third farthest, the most remote is Yellow, then Green and then Pink.

I like it being a bit away from the crowds, but when looking at the picturs, it seems that it still is not so far away from the food hut... :-)

We had the pink cabana last December and found it everything that we could hope for. It made our beach experience even more delightful. If you have mobility problems however, be sure to wait for the transportation, as it is a good walk to the cabana, and there is a little hill that you have to manuver to get to the transportation. We have chosen the tan cabana this year, as we have several in our party and want to make it easy to reach for all.
