Howdy Javelina! http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/tsmileys2/50.gif
Welcome to Cruise Critic and thank you for your post! However, you have posted on the Need Help Using The Boards? Ask Here! Forum where members find the "How to... " information about the Cruise Critic software such as avatars, signatures, countdown clocks, thread subscriptions, etc. This is not the correct forum for your post since it is off-topic here. http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/tsmileys2/05.gif
When you have a chance, please read the Sticky thread above titled What is a ROLL CALL and how do I find mine? at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=44773 (http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=44773). The Roll Call thread for your line, ship & departure date is where you will find other Cruise Critic member sailing with you. The thread is where you will get to know the others before the cruise. You did not mention your ship in your post, so click here http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=106 for the ROLL CALLS - Princess Cruises list.
To research your ports of call for excursions, click here http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=5 for the Ports of Call Forums list.
Here are some friendly http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/tsmileys2/05.gif suggestions that may be helpful to a new member:
You might want to read FAQ (http://boards.cruisecritic.com/faq.php), especially the Getting Started (http://boards.cruisecritic.com/faq.php?faq=vb_faq#faq_getting_started) section. You will see how a new topic should be consistent with the specific forum you choose. It also gives a brief summary of the topics covered in some of the forum sections.
In our Guidelines (http://www.cruisecritic.com/community/guide.cfm), please note the Please Browse BEFORE You Post section since many of your questions may have been asked and answered before. Click here Cruise Critic Message Boards (http://boards.cruisecritic.com/index.php) for the list of all the Cruise Critic message board forums.
First, be sure you are on the correct forum and have read the Announcements and Sticky threads for important information/instructions. After you have browsed/researched the threads for your topic and possibly not found an answer, word the title of your new inquiry thread so the other members scrolling through will know exactly the information you seek. This will help the members so they can reply to you. It is best to limit each inquiry to only one topic or concerning one cruise line, port of call, etc. You will get more replies that way. Also, be sure to mention your cruise line, ship & sail date in your inquiry if it will help the members with their answers to you.
If you wonder what some of the icons/symbols/arrows on Cruise Critic mean, just use your mouse to slowly hover your cursor over the item and most often there will be a tool tip appear with the name or action.
Please feel free to use the Search this Forum feature on all Cruise Critic message board forums with your key word or words. It will help narrow down the threads you will want to read during your research. Also, as mentioned above, you can see if your inquiry has been asked and answered before. And it probably has... many, many times! http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/tsmileys2/05.gif I suggest you do not try a search with too many or too common of key words at one time. This will sometimes overwhelm the search feature with too many threads to scan and will time-out. Also, from time to time, you may receive an error message that says "Search function is down". PLEASE TRY AGAIN in a few moments. This message will often pop up during the busiest times of the day. When using the search feature, click the Go button, do not click Advanced Search. It has been disabled.
I sincerely hope this information will be helpful and glad to have you aboard Cruise Critic!
