we are going to do the renewal of vows package offered by HAL. It states on the form that dinner for 2 at the Pinnacle Grill is included. My question is where and when is this done, in particular the Renewal of Vows Ceremony. I read somewhere it was done at Half Moon Cay?? Or is it on the ship?
Do you go to dinner at the Pinnacle Grill the same day? With the appetizers and cocktails etc...are you hungry to do go to dinner afterwards or is it done mid day etc.
Finally, how do you find out which day the Vows are taking place? I am assuming on a back to back cruise it would be done twice- once each week...Can we choose?
So many questions...thanks for answering.

The production shows will be the same. The headliners may, or may not, be the same. That will depend on scheduling and contracts.

We have done quite a few back-to-back cruises. The production shows were the same. And on many of our cruises, the other entertainers -- comedians, etc., were the same.

You are paying for the renewal of vows -- you will only be offered it on one of your cruises -- not both. Although we have never done it -- I have read here some reports about it. Some had the ceremony in a corner of the Crow's Nest -- others in the Piano Bar. You will probably not be the only couple there. The others mentioned that after the ceremony, they had their free Pinnacle dinner. You should get a letter in your cabin as to when the ceremony will be. If not -- check with the front office.

On back to backs we have to expect the shows to be mostly the same. We are sailing two segments but almost everyone else is on for one cruise only.

We did the renewal a few years ago. We got an invitation delivered to our cabin for the ceremony which took place in the Piano bar. We weren't the only couple there(about 5 others) but each couple was called up separately to recite some vows. The invitation to the Pinnacle was also delivered to the stateroom and you could make your own reservations. I was given flowers and we received a photo album and a picture of us and one with the captain. It was really very nice. We also got a two top table in the dining room.

I think that bennie is the major one to this package and the major motivation for many people in booking this package. It assures them of getting one of those very difficult to come by two-tops in the dining room. There just aren't that many of them to go around ... which is something I don't understand. If there is a demand for them, why not just have more?

Blue skies ...

I know someone who did the East and West Med last year (20 nights) and all the shows repeated.

Ok, I did the West and came back for the East this year (diff HAL ship) and the finale was the same 12 months later.

The special entertainment will vary depending on when the entertainment gets on or off the ship.

Does it have to be marriage or can it be about not being a chair hog?

Some of the production shows have lasted 3 years!!

And some they just change the title of the show but the songs are still the same.

We did the ROV a couple of years ago, on the Oosterdam. Ours was held in the Oak Room, which is a smallish party room just off the Crow's Nest.

We were told that the ROV is held "at the captain's convenience". We were on a Mexican Riviera cruise, so HMC was obviously not an option. I was surprised that ours was held on a port-day (Mazatlan), and not on a formal night.

There were two other couples in our ceremony. The captain made a few remarks, and then called each couple to the podium seperately. There was a string quartet playing and hors d'ouevres were served, along with Champaigne.

The photo album we received was much nicer than the one they sell in the photo shop and we got several pictures. I think the photographer took four or five and they just gave them all to us.

You can dine in the Pinnacle any evening you wish. We did not do it the same evening as the ceremony. You are simply given an invitation (voucher) for the PG and you make your own reservation.

We've never done a B2B, but I can't imagine why you couldn't choose which leg of the trip to have your ceremony. They offer it on every cruise, as far as I know, so it shouldn't make any difference to them. I suppose that, if they knew you were the only ones on one leg, they might ask you to do it on the other leg, but I kind of doubt it. I suspect that they may not even know who has requested it, before embarkation of that leg.

You will enjoy the ROV ceremony. I'm not a real sentimental guy, but I did (and made a few points with DW for suggesting it). It was not fancy, but it was tastefully done and Captain Mercer was very good at it.

thanks again for all of the information.
that clears up my questions about Renew of vows too.
Just wasn't sure what to expect and when.
It sounds wonderfull....Is it Jan yet? I'm ready to go....

May your renewal of vows ceremony live up to your dreams.
Best wishes.

And, I know how it feels to be poised on go, waiting for your sailing day when it seems that time is crawling by.
