My wife and I will be on the Volendam, for the New Years cruise, and we would like to eat in the Pinnacle Grill on two different nights. How much is the service charge, per person, for each night? We are Mariner members; not sure that matters?? I've heard $10, and I've heard $20 -- not sure which?
Thanks,
Kel

$10pp on the first night of your cruise and $20pp the other nights. You can make reservations before sailing by calling Ships Services. Sorry, no special rates for Mariners, but well worth the cost. ;)

Thanks Peaches!
I just called HAL and made two reservations. Eric, (nice guy) in customer service said it would be $80 for two of us, two nights. Do you think they did away with the first night discount?

Wow! You reserved the first night plus another night and it was $80? Should have been $60, of course, under the present 1st night 1/2 price guidelines.
I also wonder if it has been changed. Could you call him back not only for your own benefit in case Eric made a mistake, but also for everyone's knowledge? Eric may have not realized one of your dates was your first cruise night. Doing it asap would be nice and also would prevent 50 posts here going crazy with rumors. ;)
And have a great cruise! We just booked the Volendam ourselves and are looking forward to it.

Umm, it's $10PP the first night of the cruise, not the first night in the Grille. Maybe that explains the difference.....

Just made reservations today, 09/27/04, for our first night on the cruise and it is only $10.00 per person.
I assume that the Grill uses the same dress code as the rest of the ship now?

From our experience at the Pinnacle Grill on 3 different HAL ships people at the very least dress the same as for an informal night- definetely a jacket for men and a very nice dress or pants outfit for women. In fact many men had on a tie. I can't imagine anyone wearing shorts or jeans and I'm sure they wouldn't get in.
My DH always wears what he would wear to the best restaurant here at home. In other words dining at the Pinnacle Grill is special and pax dress for the occasion. :p

On the Westerdam in May, many men wore just sports shirts without a jacket on informal nights.

Then these men were not dressed according to HAL's stated dress code, but that is their problem, not mine.
What did most men on the Westerdam wear to the Pinnacle on the Westerdam, digby?

On the Westerdam in May, many men wore just sports shirts without a jacket on informal nights. In that case many men were severely underdressed on informal nights on that cruise.

Last time in Pinnacle on Amsterdam, men were in jeans. I remember because I was whining to my wife about having to wear a jacket.

Yes - if it is casual dress that evening - dress casually. Don't be alarmed by the dress code police on this board. Don't feel obligated to dress up more for the Pinnacle - just follow that evenings dress suggestion

When we were on the Oosterdam in Feb/Mar, most passengers dressed accordinly for the Pinnacle Grill.
On all the other ships that we have been on, it was the same way.
There are always a couple of people who do not follow the dress code.

The dress code for the Pinnacle is the same for the dining room for that night.

Thanks peaches, dakrewser and oxo,
We are visiting the Pinnacle on the third night and the sixth night. Sorry, I was thinking "a person's first visit" as opposed to, "visiting the first night of the cruise." Makes sense now!
Enjoy! Kel
