What I Love About Westerdam

I (dh and ds) will be on Westerdam for the first time this November and I convinced 5 other family members to go to. Please tell me I did not make a mistake. Or I may have to reimburse them all for their fares:o

the reason I am asking is because I cancelled the celebrity cruise and changed to this one and I think some of the family was looking forward to celebrity. please tell me I didn't do an "uh oh"

medfordgirl, this is our 2nd cruise on Westerdam in a row and I think that is a good indication of how much we love her. We have not sailed Celebrity before but most on these boards say the two lines are comparable and then there are those that give Holland a better rating. We loved everything about the Westerdam. Each time we chose a Superior Suite(SY) and the cabin is very spacious. I think you made an excellent choice.

What we loved about the Westerdam: The service, the dining, and the relaxed atmosphere. We also enjoyed the colorful, artistic decor, the feeling of spaciousness (except by the Adult Pool- the only crowded place we encountered), and the design of the cabins which had good-sized bathrooms.

We would like to take another Westerdam cruise.

Now, I have been on one HAL cruise which was the Veendam a few years back. We were lucky enought to get a deluxe suite so of course we loved it. But the rest of the family have never been on HAL. My parents are getting an inside guarantee. they have been in an inside on sovereign of the seas and an inside on coral princess. Do you know if the HAL inside is better than those other two. Would love for them to be surprised. My other relatives will be in a balcony room. I don't know what other cruises they have been on but I do know that they weren't HAL. Gosh I hope they love it. This is too stressful for me.

I've sailed Westerdam twice and Mercury twice, and found them to be quite comparable. I would not be disappointed to sail on either, or to switch from one to the other. Your family will have a great time!

comparing apples to apples, the Holland ships cabins are all bigger from what I have read plus you can look on Holland's site and the other ship sites to compare as well as to sq.ft.

The Sovereign has very small inside cabins. You can check the cruise websites to find the dimensions of the others and also the photos of the cabins.

Currently visiting in Seattle and we passed it twice yesterday docked here. Just smiled thinking about our last cruise on it.

I have sailed on all the Celebrity ships except the Solstice and the
Noordam and Oosterdam. I much prefer HAL over Celebrity. The service is
much better, food is better, music is much better. The filipino and
indonesian crews work much better together than the eastern european and
whatevery mix on Celebrity. Of course this is just my opinion. If they do
not like the ship tell them to get off at the next port.

This past March DW and I sailed on the Westerdam for the second time and we thought that the service was the best we have experienced in all of our HAL cruises.
