Here is a thought about levels of service. If someone is lucky enough to receive a complimentary upgrade from a basic suite to a suite with a butler, does the butler know that you are upgraded for free and does this affect his level of service? No I haven't received an upgrade it's just a thought I had as I had nothing else to think about!!:D

The butler has no idea what financial relationship the passenger has with Regent. The service will be identical! (Maybe putting your question "out there" might entice the universe to give you a special upgrade in the future!) :D

Just thinking about how to get that upgrade should occupy your mind . . . . if you figure it out, write a book (perhaps like the book that reportedly says how to get upgraded to first class. . . on the other hand, flight attendants are aware of the passengers status). :)

I have afriend who is an air attendant and she said they can tell who has been upgraded. We once were upgraded to First class from business on a flight out to New Zealand. I can't tell you why! It came as a complete shock and pleasure!! Of course it was a shrewd move on the part of the airline because the next time we flew out to NZ I searched for a good deal for First Class with that particular airline, found one and were treated like royalty. Fabulous!!!!:)

That's the thing with the upgrades. We were upgraded last year to a Horizon Suite; now if/when we next travel on Regent, we don't want anything less. It's a great marketing tool. And, our butler was just wonderful.

...if an upgrade has been bestowed upon you? Inquiring minds want to know!

I don't think that there is any formula about how and when you receive upgrades on cruises. I once received and excellent upgrade and was notified 6 months prior to sailing!

I called to see about an upgrade on the day final payment was due and for $500 per person i was upgraded on Mariner from the lowest category to seven seas suite (on a 20 day cruise) What a fabulous trip that was! So never hurts to ask about an upgrade.

I received an upgrade by calling on the day of final payment and asked how much to upgrade. $500 per person and i went from the bottom category to a seven seas suite on Mariner on a 20 day cruise. What a great deal we received. The best trip i ever had.
