Weather in Sept-Oct?

Okay....I'm probably asking a stupid question, but....

Is there any possibility of hurricanes and/or tropical storms blowing in on the Pacific side of the Panama Canal area? We're on the Island Princess leaving next week and I have to say I'm a bit uneasy about all the mess over near Texas and the Gulf of Mexico.:eek:

Does the western side of Central America and Mexico get hurricanes?

And if they do, when is "the season?"

The good news is that there are no Pacific hurricanes aorund the Panama Canal, now the bad news, they do occur off the coast of Mexico. They often occur from around Cabo San Lucas to around Guatemala and the season is the same as the Atlantic basin storms, June - November. Don't worry the ships will stear clear of the storms, your cruise will be great!
