Is the main dining room open for lunch on embarkation day on HAL? Some lines have it open even though it is not publicized or encouraged.

Welcome to Cruise Critic.

You did not mention which ship you would be on.

On most of the Vista class ships and the Signature ship (Eurodam) the diniing is open from Noon to 1 PM for lunch.

But on the R and S class ships they are closed.

We just got back from the Westerdam Alaska cruise. As we got onto the ship around 12:30, we just followed the group ahead of us, not knowing where we were going, and ended up in the dining room for lunch. Good thing too, because the Lido is (IMHO) a disaster area during "rush hour".

On most of the Vista class ships and the Signature ship (Eurodam) the diniing is open from Noon to 1 PM for lunch. We didn't have the option of the dining room when we boarded the Eurodam on 2 July, nor was it available on 5 July or 15 July. It would have been nice as the Lido sure wasn't able to handle the hoards we experienced.

The dining room wasn't available on the three night NYC cruise on embarkation day either.

We are in a SC guar suite. Is the Neptune Lounge open on embarkation day? What time? Do they serve anything to eat there? Thanks.

What about the ships that depart at 8pm (ie. SB from Seward). Is dinner served at the usual time on these ships?

The Neptune Lounge will be open and they have snack foods and juice and coffee.
