Called HAL yesterday to make sure they were taking final payment (75 days out) They said you have to call your TA so I sent them a e-mail reminding them to make final payment. Today I get a e-mail from my TA saying that my card was declined. (which it shouldn't have been??) I will call TA with card # tomorrow but tomorrow will now be 73 days before cruise. Will I still have my reservation or dose HAL cancel booking imediatly after 75 days out?

Matt-

I hope you resolve the issue for your sake... are you possibly using a debit card rather than credit card? Sometimes debit cards have daily transaction limitations no matter how much money you have in the bank!

Also, if it is a credit card that should not be declined, I would be on the phone with the card issuer right away - you never know if you may be the victim of identity theft. I check our credit card statements online daily/weekly, just to make sure there are no unauthorized transactions...

I hope everything is ok for you - please let us know.

This happened to me today .. so perhaps the same:

Did the expiration date on your card pass while you were moving towards final payment? Your agent may have not noticed and that could be causing the problem. Perhaps it's worth asking.

Cheers!

Also make certain that TA has the correct number and the correct expiration date. He/she could have typed in something wrong.

One number typed wrong can make a big difference.

I'm sorry I don't know the answer. My suggestion would be to make the final payment a few days in advance just to avoid situations like this. I'm sure you already thought of this:) .

Called Mastercard they said that a attempt was made but that the wrong exp date was used. Called TA and told them this, they thought there was no way this could've happend but said they would try again. Guess what it went through:) I talked to HAL they said the ship wasn't full yet so to give it a few days and if payment still hadn't gone through to call them back and they would put a note on booking about having troubles with TA. Sure glad they did'nt cancel my cruise as the price is up about 20%-25%

Owning a small retail flower shop, we find the most common causes for declined credit cards are an incorrect expiration date or a new card not yet activated.

Glad it worked out for you. It can be very disconcerting when a card declines and there is money available. Our debit cards declined earlier this summer and we had no knowledge of why it should decline. We checked with the bank the following day and found out they had been cancelled because of a breach in the computer system at BJ's Wholesale in which credit and debit card information was compromised. While I applaud the bank cancelling the cards, it was a bit embarrasing to have our cards decline. We received the bank notice of the cancellation after the fact

Hal was very good to me about something similar. The TA was out of town so my final payment could not be made. I called Hal and they put a note in my file.

I would hope my TA would tend to final payments and such that were due before she left her office. I would not be pleased with her to let a deadline go by because she did not think ahead. The only excuse I would find acceptible would be a 'true emergency/illness' to her or her family.

Hal was very good to me about something similar. The TA was out of town so my final payment could not be made. I called Hal and they put a note in my file.My son had been involved in a car accident immediately prior to the time when our final payment was due. My TA called HAL and they were very gracious about it, gave us an extension of several days to get the payment to them. I appreciated their courtesy very much.
