My wife and I are from the Chicago area and we are going on the Insignia from Rio to Manaus on 02/14/05. Just wondering if anyone else out there going. This is our first time on Oceania and I have heard wonderful things about the ship and service. Say hello if you are on the same cruise.:)

My husband and I are booked on the Feb. 14th cruise, also. This is our first cruise with Oceania and we are looking forward to it. Initially we had booked the Buenos Aires to Valparaiso trip but opted for the warmer weather in Rio. After all, a good part of the reasoning for this vacation is escaping the cold in Allentown, PA.

The ship has been sold out for many months so there are a lot of us that are on that cruise..look forward to meeting everyone..

FRMACST and mmlees,
While this cruisecritic board is terrific, I highly suggest you also visit the Oceania Cruise board on yahoo. You'll meet up with some of your fellow cruisers there and if enough of you sign up, Oceania will throw you a cocktail party one night.
Enjoy your cruise.

Thanks for the info. I spoke with Oceana yesterday about the Visa for Brazil and they did not know what to put as an address in Brazil or as a contact number.
We were able to get the info for our flight down to Rio on 2/13 but she was unclear about the flight back. When I checked travelocity, I came up with nothing so there must be no good direct way to get to BWI. I am glad that they are chartering an aircraft and that we will have some rest at the Fairfield Inn. They are usually more than acceptable and provide a nice
breakfast. They also have Washing Machines, if someone want to return home with clean clothes. Wait, I forgot, we have a laundramat on the ship with Ironing boards so you can save some money by not using the ships laundry.
Have you applkied for your Visa?

IN PART:

Bugeye,
I have been asking this question trying to get an answer for months.
Jan said that she was told by Oceania for us to just put the port name on the visa, example: "Port of Rio de Janiero, Brazil".. as far as a contact number I am still unclear as to what to put there too as that has not been answered for me either.
If anyone gets a hopefully correct answer (/) from the ship could they please post here so we do these correctly? Thanks

Does anyone have any information regarding shore tours both through local entities or through the cruise line? The information on the Oceania website is confusing and seems to not include all ports.

Some space has opened up on this cruise if you have friends that wanted to go but the ship was sold out..
