Hope someone is out there who can answer a few questions! Leaving next week, but still have questions about dinner times and any onboard entertainment. On past cruises, we always loved the Karaoke and some of the shows. With these split dinner times, does it interfere with activities if you eat at 7:30? That time seems to work best for us after such port intensive days. Is the entertainment worth checking out or trying to schedule around?
Thanks,
suekay

Have just emailed you. I don't know how to cut and paste, and I type extremely slowly so unfortunately can't reproduce my answer here as well:(

We were on the Splendour September 18-25 and can answer your questions The dinner times are 6 and 6:30 PM for early and 9 and 9:30 PM for late. They have 2 karaoke sessions at 10:45 PM. The entertainment was marginal although we did enjoy the flamingo show. Of 12 cruises on RCCL, the SPlendour is our least favorite. The food was not up to RCCL standards. The ports are fantastic. We did private tours we lined up in Marseille, Villefranche, Florence Rome and Naples. Awesome!.

I'll be leaving in a couple of weeks for my trip on the Splendour. Would you mind e-mailing me information on private tours in the ports as I'm leaning towards the private tours over the ship's tours.
Thanks --

Hi melaniepeg-
Was it that bad really? Tell us more! What all did you not like? The food? The service? Any pointers for us? Thanks much!

I had to comment since I did Splendor last June. It was terrible, I couldn't understand the French either#!? And that five year old that out climbed the middle age man on the rock wall that was also terrible. And the Europeans on the beach were almost all naked...how terrible. And the price I had to pay for wine while at port... $.92 cents a glass how terrible. And then there was the night in Marseille where our waiters offered us "snails", how discusting! And worst of all our Ship didn't even rock like a boat, you call this a cruise? Does anyone else have any bad comments about Splendor. Lets hear it. I hate to hear the good things. Tim

Just got back from the Splendour Oct. 1st. They changed the early dinner sitting time from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and the late sitting from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. We opted for the early sitting and it was just perfect. We had a lot of time to do everything else after. There were three main production shows (Make Mine Broadway, Jump Jivin Swing and Starstruck) by the RCCL Singers and Dancers , A Rumba Flamenco Show with Ole Ole, an Opera Singer and a Comic/Magician, all are shown at the 42nd St. Theater. Showtime for main or early sitting is at 9 p.m. and the late sitting at 11:00 p.m. There were also various game shows, karaoke, dance contests, etc. If you like dancing, you can do it either at the Centrum, Top hat lounge or the Viking Crown lounge.
Happy Sailing!

I am taking the splendor may of 2005 with my fiance for my honeymoon. I haven't taken many cruises. I have on princess and celebrity before but never royal caribbean. Does anyone know how the food compares?

Oooh I hope they do that with our dining times for my cruise on the Splendour on 10/30. 7:30 would be perfect and give us enough time to return from our tours (probably around 5:30) relax a bit, shower and get dressed for dinner. I was picturing us (5 of us) changing into our formalwear in less than an hour. I would have done it though, as I don't want to cut into my port time in order to be ready for dinner.
Great news:)

I just got back from the Oct 2 sailing. They had seatings at 6:30, 7:00, 9:00 and 9:30. I don't do kareoke and actually I was exhausted every night from doing tours all day so I didn't go to see many shows. As for the comments about the food, I didn't think it was terrible or excelent but it was satisfactory. The service everywhere was excelent! I'm not sure about the comments on the crowd of people and it might have something to do with the date of sailing but on my ship there was a wonderful mix of ages and nationalities. I would definetly cruise the Splendour again but for the ports not necesarily cruise life.
Hope this helps
