Hi Krimpet,

I just checked and saw this was an 11 day cruise. There are usually a lot more kids on 7 day cruises.
Since Easter is March 27, a lot of kids might be out of school the week of the 20th.
This is hard to judge because of Easter and Spring Breaks.

I sailed over Easter in April to the Canal. It was a round trip from FT. Lauderdale, 10 day cruise (with 3 extra days to Baltimore for some). There were only a handful of kids, no more that 10 or 15.
My Aunt sailed on Hal over Easter but did a 7 day cruise. There were about 400 + kids, maybe more.

You will usually find that there are fewer children on cruises longer than 7 days.

Even with Easter and spring vacation, not many will have that much time off from school.

I live local to the Norfolk area and our spring break from school is one week long and occurs the week after that (March 28 - April 1), so I wouldn't expect a lot of kids from this area to be on that cruise.

March 20-27 IS a common week for Spring Break in many regions, mine included. I'll bet that you will have plenty of kids during that cruise. While not as many as a 7 day cruise, there will still be some. (I'm guessing ~100-150).

Enjoy!

Just my opinion, but I would expect few children on that cruise. Because of the length of the cruise and the fact that most schools only have one week vacation, I would not think many parents would take their children out of school for so much longer than their vacation. There possibly be could be 'home school' children who can be away a little longer.

Thanks everyone for your input! We have been looking hard at trying to find a cruise that there would be some kids and within driving distance.

Gizmo,
We were on the Carnival Glory in Aug. Had a good time but the ship was to big and many pax. The service was good and food was ok to good. I want to go back on HAL because I thought they were good to great! We don't fly so we have to be able to get were ever by car!

Krimpet,

I'll be on the Maasdam out of Norfolk on October 30. I'll post when I return regarding how many kids were on the ship. I would expect that there will be more on March 20 than Oct. 30. Also keep in mind your kids won't need 200 other kids to have a good time. If they hook up with hald a dozen kids that would probably be fine.

Our last cruise was a 7 day spring break cruise on Carnival. There were about 600 kids on board. But our daughters pretty much hung out with a group of about 4 or 5 other kids the whole week.
