I know, I know it has been posted before but I guess I am looking for an updated list. When all the ships go into drydock this time I assume they will be upgraded to include all the SOE enhancements. Can't wait to hear about the Ryndam when she comes out in a few weeks. Believe it or not thinking about alaska for 2006...yes 2006 and if I could sneak in a Feb break cruise that would be great also!!!! SO just wondering who will upgraded and who will not by then.

Thanks all

Just booked our first b to b for next summer on the Zuid. We'll be doing east/west but visiting 4 islands we have not been to before. Can't wait to be back on a HAL ship - sailed on a RCC amd Celebrity ship last two sailings and we REALLY miss the HAL experience

You didn't like Celebrity?

We sailed on Zuiderdam this August and while ship is new and beautifull ( well, I don't care what colors carpets were ;) ) I don't think whole experience is in any way superior to X.

Not that we didn't like Celebrity - we thought the HAL service was above and beyond Celebrity and for us that really makes a difference in our cruise. Also felt HAL was more of a "traditional" cruise experience - more laid back, more relaxing. We just prefer HAL. To each his own as they say!

I also would love to know when the ships are scheduled for dry/wet docks. Last year someone was kind enough to post a list for all the 'dam' ships; wonder how they got a hold of that info.

Bumping this up - since seeing Steve post the photos' of the Ryndam in drydock - it makes me even more anxious to know the schedule of the others ships enhancements during their drydocks.

I have only been on one HAL ship, the Zuiderdam. We enjoyed the cruise and have booked again for next summer. However, in most areas, our Celebrity cruises exceeded what was provided on the Z, particulary the food and service in the dining room which were a gigantic disappointment. We are hoping that this will imporve now that HAL has hired a new Master Chef.

I do not have a list official or otherwise.

I did do a search on old posts and it would seem that the following ships are going into drydock in the future. I assume that time the structural changes that are happening to the Ryndam will occur then.

Amsterdam September 2005
Zaandam January 2005
Veendam April 2006
Statendam Spring 2005
Rotterdam March 2005

I could find no reference to Volendam or Maasdam.

If the above dates are incorrect, any corrections would be welcome.

I was told that the Volendam will enter drydock in early December 2005 but a HAL representative.

I think the Oosterdam is in dry dock now --

In fact, I caught the end of a story on the late news tonite, that "a Holland America ship" was giving away mattresses to charities, if they could arrange for trucks to pick them up by Wednesday, when the new mattresses arrive......!

I was told by one of the ladies in the Neptune concierge that Zuiderdam will be going into drydock in Jacksonville this coming January.

I think those ladies were wrong - She isn't going into drydock until January /06 and it will be in Freeport.

Does Jacksonville even have a shipyard? I have no idea.

She said the wetdock was in Freeport, however, she did not give a date for that servicing. Perhaps she is mistaken, I would have no knowledge of the inner workings of HAL to compare to. I have no idea where wetdock/drydock facilities are, though I would imagine it would be an incredibly awesome site to see a vista class ship in drydock.

January is for the Zaandam, not Zuiderdam :)
