We are in the process of planning a Panama Canal cruise for Feb 2010 and we are looking at the 10 day Princess from Ft. Lauderdale to Acapulco. Does anyone know if the Princess goes through the locks in daylight? To me it would be a complete waste to go through at night, but it seems like I read on here where some of the ships do that.

Almost without exception passenger ships go through in the daylight. The ships of the major cruise lines such as Princess, RCI, NCL, Celebrity etc. are a class of ships called "Panamax". These ships are designed with the maximum demensions of the Canal in mind. Normally, this class of ship must complete the Canal transit during daylight hours.

Thanks Bill B. That is what I figured, but wanted to make sure.
