A couple months back, there was thread where all of the experienced cruises submitted their "best tips". It was terrific! Unfortunately, I don't know how to retrieve it!

Can we start it again? PLEASE!?!?!

Leaving in two weeks on the Eurodam... need some help!

Why start a new one, when the original is right here?

1) Be nice to the help.

2) Ship Happens. Roll with whatever happens and be happy you are on a cruise.

3) You can afford to tip more than the auto-tip, but keep the auto in place.

4) If something goes wrong, talk to the Front Office nicely; if you feel you should go higher, the Guest Relations Manager is next.

5) Bring an extension cord, but not an iron.

6) The captain really does know what he is doing, in case you have a change.

7) Don't sit on railings. Don't do anything prefaced by "Watch this!"

8) Avoid rude people. If people are avoiding you, then you might be rude.

9) The deck chairs aren't yours, so don't reserve them.

10) If your name is Dorothy, don't think the Friends of Dorothy meetings are for you.

I don't think that anyone named Dorothy should be excluded as a matter of course....

Yeah...thanks for the reminder....what is the whole deal with the "Friends of......dorothy or Bill whomever...or, well you know...I did wonder, but, since I knew I was not their friend, I did not attend. What is the deal? Who are these special celebs and how do I get an invite?

Those are AA meetings. Very necessary with all the booze available on a ship.

Or maybe it should be "Watch this....someone hold my drink!"

Your "Top 10" is very well thought out (and with a healthy dose of hilarious thrown in for good measure! :D )

And that's a good thing... ;)

Sleep... If I may call you by your first name: What is the whole deal with the "Friends of......Dorothy or Bill." I did wonder, but, since I knew I was not their friend, I did not attend. What is the deal? Who are these special celebs and how do I get an invite? They aren't special celebs at all, but just ordinary people who are members of special groups.

"Friends of Bill W" is a code word for people who are members of AA. The cruise lines set aside a room every day on, I think, every ship for AA meetings run by the members.

"Friends of Dorothy" is a code word for gays. Sometimes you will see a note on the daily program that the Friends of Dorothy (or FOD) are meeting in some room at some time. It's an open invite for any gays onboard to get together before supper, or whenever.

Hahahaha...thanks for the education. And you may call me sleep, any time! Sounds like a good idea to have AA on a ship with so much alcohol available. Wonder if they should also have OA? Ahhhhh, nevermind.
