rental car companies - Ft. Lauderdale Royal Carribean port

Hi everybody,

we are sailing from Ft. Lauderdale with Royal Carribean Jewel of the Seas in December. I'm not familiar with the area and I'm trying to figure out which rental car companies are nearby, coz we want to rent a car to spend a few extra days in FL after we return from our cruise. Where can we get a car when we arrive back at the port?

Also if there is any other suggestions regarding our cruise it would be great.
It's the Dec 4th Eastern Carribean cruise 8 days.

All of the majors serve the port as the airport is only a couple of miles away. :)

We have rented a car from Budget several times to leave from Ft Lauderdale and they have an office very near the port. We have dropped off the car there and they drove us over to the port in a van. I assume they do the same thing if you are picking up a rental car.

As the other poster mentioned the airport is also close and has all the major rental car companies.

We prefer Alamo. The tend to have the best rates and pick up at the pier. As previous posters have said all are close by. Compare rates and make sure they have pier pick up.
