What hotel is a good one to stay at prior to a cruise from Tampa?

Has anyone used Priceline for Tampa hotels and been happy?

Do HAL and Carnival leave from the same general port area?
Thanks for your help.

Roberta,

The Port of Tampa is about 10 miles by road. The airport is way out on the NW side of town, and the cruise terminals are on the E. side of the downtown core.

HAL and Carnival use ports in the same general area, the Channelside District. HAL uses Terminal 6, and Carnival is just down the street (I think they are 1 or 2). The terminals aren't very far apart, maybe 2/10 a mile or less.

In my signature, click on my photo page link for WebShots. I have an album of pictures in the Port of Tampa area. I also have an album set up in Yahoo (the link is below in my signature), but I haven't got the photos labeled yet.

Some folks have stayed at the Marriott Waterside Hotel in downtown Tampa along side the channel to the W. of the docks. It's a super nice place. Some people have reported using Priceline to get deals there, so it's worth a try.
There's a street car line running from the station in front of the Marriott that will take you to the Channelside District for dining and entertainment. The street car will also take you on down to the Ybor City area where there are restaurants, etc.

There are also a lot of nice hotels in the Westshore Business District which is just S of the airport.

If any questions, ask.

Hope this helps.
