Are capris (the legs go just below the knee) concidered a pant or a short? Like would I be able to wear nice printed capris in the dinning room (and/or lido) for lunch or breakfast?

Shorts and capris are okay in Lido or Dining Room during breakfast or lunch. Not so during dinner. ---- Penny

I would say they are less casual than a short and more casual than a pant. They are fine for dining anywhere for lunch or breakfast.

You will find a lot of ladies wearing capris at breakfast and lunch in the dining room. An of course in the Lido.
People just don't have time to change clothes -- expecially at breakfast if they are going on a tour.

Ok thanks so much. I have more capris than dress slacks and that will help alot to know I am not dressing down and offending anyone.

I wear nice capris to dinner in the dining room frequently. I've seen many women in capris at night.....

There are capris and then there are crop pants.
Aren't capri pants the ones that come just below the knee and crop are above the ankle?, maybe up to lower calf?
I don't think capri pants are appropriate for dinner in the dining room but think it's okay for nice crop pant outfits in the evening. I've seen some linen or silk sets that are very attractive, neat and dressy enough IMO
I agree with the others that capri pants are fine for breakfast and lunch. Great for shore excursions.

Didn't we used to call those "peddlepushers"? Now I'm dating myself!

Capri pants with snazzy sling back heels or fancy slip on heels can appear very dressy at night, especially with a pretty top with glitter or ruffles etc

RozI remember those. I know I had a pair of pedal pushers back in the '60s. One of my cousins from back east called them clam diggers but they were capri length.

Molly,
I'd forgotten the term "clamdiggers" but you're right, they're the same as pedalpushers.

When we received our docs for our upcoming Zuiderdam cruise (two weeks!) the dress code listed was three formal nights and seven casual nights. No mention of smart casual so apparently that's gone by the wayside also. That would certainly have aan effect on pants styles also.

Oh Yes I remember peddle pushers:D
It does not matter if they are Crop pants or Capri's for me since I am so short they still are mid calf or just above the ankle. I just purchased a pair of very dressy ones at Nordstrom's Rack yesterday that I plan to wear in the Main Dining Room for Smart Casual nights. I think for warm weather climate cruises they work great if they are of a nice fabric and what you wear with it is smart casual.
