Someone else has already started a thread for this particular cruise If we would all put our messages on the same thread, it would save time. My husband and I were booked for this same cruise for March 08 and both came down with a nasty gastro-intestinal flu days before embarkation and had to cancel...expensive illness! We would be interested in the menu, also....and excursion advice for Topolobampo. I saw a website about excursions for the cruise industry there that described a tour to Farallon Island, described as the Galapogos of the Sea of Cortez. It is not offered by HAL, unless we all write them and request that it be offered.

Cruise West Spirit of Discovery, Alaska (8 days), 7/00
Volendam, W. Caribbean & Veracruz(10 days), 3/04
Costa Atlantica, W. Carib. (7 days), 12/04
Rotterdam, E. Carib. (7 days), 3/05
Volendam, S. Carib. (10 days), 3/06
Coral Princess, Panama Canal (10 days), 11?/06
Carnival Spirit, Northbound Alaska (7 days), 8/07

The Farallon Island shorex is available on our Nov 21/08 sailing w/HAL:

Marine Life Sanctuary Express

Many Marine biologists call Farallon Island "an ocean oasis" because of its abundance of pristine marine life. It has also been used as research center by oceanographers from major ecological organizations. This island is a huge rock refuge for many exotic forms of sea life in the middle of the blue ocean waters and is a marine sanctuary teeming with marine life, birds and a sea lion colony. It has been called "the Galápagos of the Sea of Cortez" because of its population of endemic animals. The Sanctuary Express is a 35-foot U.S. Coast Guard-certified vessel with a top cruising speed of more than 40 knots. Since this area is great for snorkeling, snorkel equipment and life preservers are available on board for each passenger.

Maybe call the Shore Ex dept & find out why it isn't being offered on your sailing date?
