One of our group just upgraded from an inside to an outside cabin on the Rotterdam. It is an aft cabin on the main deck. From the map it looks great-just go out your door and around the corner and you almost have your own verandah. Of course your window looks out on the rear deck, but after that is the sea. Has anyone seen these cabins? Is there a problem that doesn't show on the ship map? Thanks.

Is it a handicap cabin? longtimecruisers's Mom was back there in a handicap cabin on our recent cruise; they thought it was excellent. There is a small deck, with deck chairs out there---very private for a public area. There is also an outside staircase to access Lower Promenade for muster drill or your daily walk.
It's quiet since the only traffic is a few neighbors coming and going.
I was in a similar location on Lower Prom. I thought access to food was quick and easy, but it was a lo-n-n-n-g-g-g way to/from everything else. DO NOT leave your cabin unless you have everything you want with you. If you forget it you'll soon learn to do without it.

Thank you Ruth- just what I was looking for. It is a handicapped accessable room. They are not handicapped, but I guess HAL only holds them so long. It seems wherever your cabin is it is going to be a long walk from something, so they are happy to trade proximity for a semi-private deck.

I have not sailed in those cabins on the Rotterdam but this past July I was in the G aft cabin on the Amsterdam. We LOVED the cabin. We were also sailing with a group and some friends were next door in the other G cabin. These were not handicap but there was a 3rd cabin that was. We found these cabins slightly larger. The windows had a nice view of the wake. People on the small deck could NOT see in the cabin so privacy was not an issue. There were some chairs in the back but there was also some sort of sign on an outside door that warned of high voltage. To tell you the truth when we wanted to sit outside we went up one deck to the lower promenade deck where there were tables and chairs.
We were on a 7 day cruise and only one night did I notice some vibration. It was not a serious problem. I would not hesitate to book that cabin on a future cruise!

Hope you have a wonderful time!

RuthC is correct that my Mother had one of these cabins on our recent 34 day cruise. It was a nice , big cabin with big windows overlooking the aft of the ship. There was a nice, small deck there too. It had deck chairs and tables. It was a very quiet deck. Perfect for watching us pull in and out of port and just a relaxing place to sit and think. Never many people out there for 34 days. There were steps on that deck that went right to lower prom deck. I went there everyday to take my walk. The only drawback to that cabin was the location. Not that it was aft but it was a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOG walk to our cabins. RuthC was right that you learned quickly to make sure you had everything you needed before you left your cabin. You absolutely DID NOT want to walk all the way back to your cabin if you forgot something. Must have walked at least a mile back and forth everyday!!!!!!!!
