Heard a rumour that the Star is going into dry dock for refurbishment before going to the Caribbean, can anybody confirm this.

The Star Princess has - but havent seen anything about the Island Star - it was only refitted in 2006 so not very likely. It will have stuff done when it finishes in the Carribbean before going back to spain probably !

I'd also heard that it was going in for a week-long refit between the last Med cruise and the Trans-Atlantic. I wonder if they'll bother going to the expense now though, seeing as they're handing it back to Royal Caribbean in March?

Response from Island Cruises regarding refit
" The Island Star was due to undergo some refurbishment around this time but it will leave our fleet after March 26 2009. I haven't heard if the work is still going ahead but would assume that this proposed work has been postponed."
Ange, you were right, nearly :(

Hi Wullie,
Bit worrying that Island Cruises can only "assume" the work has been postponed! Nice to know they know what's going on with their 2 ships :-)
Anyway, I'm sure it will still be in a good state although you and Ange may not think it's in such a good state after I've been on it over Xmas/New Year as there won't be any food or drink left for you guys :-)

Looking forward to you going so you can give us the heads up on anything we need to know, best places to be - could you reserve me a sunbed by the pool please:D

Cheers Steve, a word of warning though, if there is no gin left my wife will be a very upset woman and I think Ange likes her G&T as well :)
Believe it or not, I don't drink, I am one of a rare breed of scotsman but I can eat. :)
Anyway, have a good cruise and keep us posted.
Ps my sister in law and husband are just back from crossing the pond with Ocean Village and his quote was "Beware of 80 year old, 20 stone women in leopard print bikinis" they like to eat and drink :D

Hi Ange/Wullie,
Okay Ange, I'll put your name on a sunbed near the pool and bar.
I think you'll both be okay, I don't like gin :-) Wullie, you don't like drink? Blimey, having lived in Scotland (Fife) for many years I only met one Scotsman who didn't drink so nice to meet you again :-)
I'll have a look at your ports of call and see what one's I stop off at and let you know anything useful once I return.
Cheers....Steve
