I would like to know what you guys recommend for really throwing a great birthday party on the Eurodam. Actually, my husband wants to know but he doesn't belong to cruisecritic so I have to tastelessly post my own question :)

Anyway, b-day is a non formal night, would you recommend Tamarind or main dining room if you're looking for a celebration (singing, cake, all that silly stuff)? Also, does anyone know what order the menus are for the Eurodam eastern caribbeans so we could figure out when to have Tamarind reservations?

TIA!

Without a doubt, Tamarind!
They will spoil you rotten both with food and service.. Large groups make for for wonderful sharing opportunities.
Reserve early for a larger group.
Let us know how it went please

I second the Tamarind nomination! The food and service are unmatched and it is such a lovely setting.

They sang to both of our girls and brought out a cake(nice looking, but not tasty!) in the main DR. They had candles and really made a big deal for them. One turned 1 and the other turned 4 the next day. At least 5 or 6 waiters came over to sing. But the lady next to our table had her birthday the last night and it was just the waiter and his asst. It was really bad, they did not know her name and kind of mumbled over, happy birthday dear mmmhmmm....So maybe good for kiddies but maybe not for adults???

I just did my birthday on the Eurodam last week and witnessed another birthday with our table mates as well. While we loved Tamarind (ate there two nights in a row), we choose the Pinnacle Grill for my birthday on a non-formal night. Thankfully for me there was no singing, just a wonderful birthday cake with a candle in it. It's very elegant and low key. However, if you want the singing and such they will do it in the main dining room. The wait staff sang happy birthday in their native language and then again in English. It was very festive and they served the same yummy cake that I had in the PG. (My husband surprised me and arranged it with the PG directly.)

Have fun on your BD cruise, I hope yours is as wonderful as mine was!

Have your TA arrange for the birhday cake.

The waiters in the main dining room are the only ones allowed to sing. The wait staff in the Pinnacle and Tamarind are only allowed to bring the cake to the table.

Is it true that HAL is now charging for the birthday cake?
Thanks! Deb C.

So they won't sing in the Tamarind!? (I realize I'm a grown woman and you might find it odd that I really want singing and candles in some type of dessert for my birthday, but birthdays are the only holiday I really celebrate and so they're pretty special to me.)

Even if they aren't charging for a cake, a candle in my regular dessert would be okay with me. I've heard before about the dual-language birthday singing and wanted to experience that!

We made online reservations for Tamarind for that night but now it is looking like I should cancel them... the PG menu isn't really too appealing to me (I don't eat meat and I don't like lobster) unfortunately.

[B]To have the stewards sing Happy Birthday to you in Indonesian, go to the Dining Room. Be sure your DH confirms with the Maitre d' after you board to be sure he has your birthday noted and that you want a cake and singing. You don't want to be disappointed and bad communication between Seattle and the ship could possibly not be accurate.

To be sure to get the singing, the Dining Room is where you should go.

You'll be amazed how many folks on cruises are celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, graduations etc....... :)

They did not charge us in the PG last week. It would have easily served 6 people. (But the two of us did the best we could and they offered to wrap the remainder for us to take back to the cabin - I didn't dare because I would have ate the entire thing as my midnight snack.) It was a decadant chocolate layered type which is my kind of cake!

Only singing is permitted in the dining room.

OK, OK, OK! You guys have convinced me. I'll switch our Tamarind reservations to another night and we'll be on our way to the main dining room for bilingual serenading and candle lighting on my birthday.

Thank you all so much for your advice--- you're making my birthday happy already and it's still two months away!
