If we don't want anything out of the refrigerator in our cabin, can we have the items removed so that we can have room for what we would like to put into it?

Yes of course, just ask your cabin steward and he/she will gladly remove the items. Be sure and get a copy of the item count.

We have had the room steward remove the items from the refrigerator a couple of times. The room steward placed the items right in the cupboard next to the refrigerator taking away our storage space.

On the Veendam a year ago, we had the steward remove everything from the fridge. He put it all in the small round stool that sits in the sofa area (maybe by the makeup mirror). I didn't know that thoses stools were hollow and opened!

Hello everyone! The steward has a list of just what is in your bar. I have it all removed from the cabin and a copy of the list given to me. We have all these things done as soon as we meet our cabin steward. I go with a list also, table cloth for breakfast, champagne or sparkling wine in ice at 15:00hrs. and so on. As I have always done, the cabin steward gets a nice tip at that time. You will know then if your going to get along well with your steward. Take GOOD care of them please.:)

Champagne at 3 every day? Now YOU know how to enjoy a cruise! I agree- for the obvious reasons, I like to tip the first day and as we go along rather than at the end of the cruise.

Hi there-
Since we're on the topic, I won't start a new Thread, but does every cabin get a fridge? We're on the Oosterdam in Nov, but not in a suite, we're only in a balcony cabin, so I wasn't sure if we got a fridge too?
Also, what items is the steward removing? Just curious!
Thanks, and sorry for the questions, but we have never cruised HAL.

You may have to start a new thread, but I would be interested in the answer, too:) .

Fridges can be emptied, ask your cabin steward or ask the person who stocks the fridge and minibar. This has never been a problem, it can be a problem when you leave everything as it is and then get a weird charge on your bill when you get home. This does not make you happy...
I was just checking the brochure about fridges and no-host mini-bars (refridge) and I realized that the brochure only states that on Vista ships, SS rooms and above have a no-host mini-bar.
On "S" class ships, all verandah rooms have a fridge. I love this.:)

There is a fridge in every cabin on Vista-class ships.
On the S/R/V-class ships there's a fridge in the S and PH suites. In the other categories one can be rented; have your TA arrange it for you. I understand the priority will go to those who need (as opposed to "want").
The Noordam doesn't supply a fridge in any category (but at this point that's probably no longer an issue).
Don't know how it is on the Prinsendam.
Haven't a clue what's supplied; suspect it's sodas and water. You can have it emptied for your own things---just be sure everything removed is accounted for so you're not charged.

The fridge will have miniature bottles of wine and hard alcohol. You may also find soft drinks and water. Ask to have all items removed and it will be done.;) Happy sailing:D Leslie

If you are going to have a fridge it will take up one of the already limited electrical outlets in your room. It is a good idea to pack one of those surge protector type power strip cords and perhaps an extension cord if you want adequate outlet space. We always bring our walkman with external speakers, for instance, which requires another outlet if you don't want to burn thru batteries. Same for cam corder chargers, cell phone chargers, etc.
