Have a couple questions for anyone who has recently been on the Zuiderdam. Appreciate any input!

1. Do the cabins (we have a std. verandah) have mp3 players? Or a DVD player that plays mp3 discs?

2. I'm bringing a 4gb SD memory card for my camera, which SHOULD be sufficient, but just in case, are there options for downloading a full memory card onto a disc onboard?

3. What is the day-pass rate for the thermal suites?

4. How "formal" are people dressing for formal nights? We've always done the full formal thing (tuxes, gowns, etc.) but this trip we opted to keep it simpler with ties/jackets for the guys and nice dresses/skirts for the girls. Will that be "in vogue"?

5. Any particular bars or servers that are extra fun? ;) We always enjoy getting to know our servers and try to seek out the fun ones.

Any other ideas/suggestions are welcome!!! :D

I was on the Zuiderdam in September and will try to answer as many questions as I can.
1. The Superior Verandah and Deluxe Verandah suites have DVD players. Don't know about a standard Verandah cabin. Don't think they have MP# capabulity.
2.The photo shop on board will put your photos on a disk for a price. If you use the internet in the explorations cafe you will not be able to download pictures to a disk on those computers. I brought my laptop and downloaded them every night.
3. Don't know the day pass rate for the thermal suites. Didn't use them.
4.There were more men on the Med cruise in suits than tuxes. Most ladies were dressed in formal attire but lots were in nice dresses on those evenings as well.
5. A lot of the servers and bar attendants were ending their contracts on Oct. 23 in Venice and from recent posts there were a lot of new crew on board with the first sailing out of Fort Lauderdale. Threfore I am hesitant to mention anyone. I know my server's contract ended and most of the others I met.
I know I'm not much help, but we did have a fun time and the Zuiderdam is a lovely ship. We had the trip of a lifetime.

Just got back from the 11/9 sailing. Most of the men were in suits and ties on formal nights. A few tuxes. Quite a few people totally ignored any dress requirements and wore shorts the whole time, even in dining room.
Because of code red situation we were in and because most of the servers were new, we did not notice any outstanding servers as we did on our last Noordam sailing. The weekly thermal and hydro pool pass was $250 per couple. If you bring your own laptop, you can download picture and ue internet easier. The 250 minute package was $100. plus some bonus minutes. If you plan on using internet, that is the plan to get as speed is slow.

Our ship came in with a high number of passengers infected with noro virus. The cdc determined that the ship had to be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. We sailed 7 hours late. Code red means that certain restrictions are put in place to stop the spread od the virus. Hot tubs are closed, no self service on buffets, hand sanitizing is a must everywhere and other restrictions also. Code red is lifted after no new cases of sickness are reported. Check the search for info about the recent outbreak on the Zuiderdam. I posted some updates from the ship while I was onboard.

We have missed seeing you on our roll call; we would like for you to come back and visit.

1. Standard verandah have a DVD player, they should be able to play mp3 discs, but sound is through the TV

2. It cost ~$10 to have a disc made by the photo lab folks, but 4 GB should be fine unless you plan to take more than 1,000 pictures. I had a 2GB card with a 10 MP camera and took just over 600 shots an had room to spare at max resolution with my camera. If your in doubt, big a pc to download your images or just but another card.

3. Don't know about thermal suites.

4. On "formal" you won;t feel under dressed with a sport coat and tie. A dark suit is probably the norm. About 1/3 of the men will have a tux.

5. Hunky Dory will be on the Zuiderdam for a while longer. Buddy is also excellent.

Thermal suites "day passes" were $40 on our Zuiderdam 11/9 sailing (after it opened after code red).
