Thanks, we are booked on the final voyage. Having been on the Noordam a few times, my only concern is the removal of art work and furniture prior to the final sailing... any worries here?

I hope she goes out in the style she deserves... the final voyage has been sold out for months - I hope all the old "die hard" Noordam fans (such as myself) will be aboard to say good-bye... :)

Hi
Not having sailed on the Noordam before, I can't say if all ot the artwork was there but there were no obvious gaps as far as we could tell. I would expect the choices for some things would be reduced but you most likely will have a very special cruise.

The removal of the art work will be done after her final voyage and before she is handed over to the new owners, as was done with the Nieuw Amsterdam. I wouldn't be surprised if some or all of it ended up on the new Noordam. I don't know what they do with the furniture - if may be left on the ship. Anything of value, I am sure, will be removed.

I leave Wednesday for the Noordam. My concern is the vibrations I keep reading about.

I've been on the Noordam a few times... I'm not sure which vibration you are referring to - she is old, but last we sailed on her - she was getting ready for an extended dry-dock in Mobile, AL - so she should be in fairly good shape.

You feel movement a bit more on the Noordam, but we've never noticed anything out of the ordinary.

I am happy to hear this! I read a thread months ago where someone stated they were on the final voyage of the old Westerdam and half the fittings and art had been removed prior to the sailing.

We sailed on the Noordam three years ago to the Panama Canal. We had an aft cabin and the vibration was such that we asked to be moved. In our new cabin, much further forward, the vibration was hardly noticable. The aft section of the ship, particularily on the lower decks, was awfully hot as well. We heard several comments to that effect.
