Does anyone know if there is a Coach store on St. Martin? If so, is it on the Dutch or French side? Thanks!

Pardon my ignorance, but what's a Coach store? Do they sell out of work coaches?

No, they sell the old horse drawn coaches. Seriously its a store that sells Coach brand leather goods, handbags, briefcaes, etc. lots of Coach knockoffs available in Korea when I was there 10 years ago.

not listed on the Coach website, Nassua, Bahamas and Cancun, Mexico the closet. I woudl suspect if a store does sell Coach it would be a knockoff.

Just curious. Why would you want to search out a Coach store in St Martin?

Yep - Dutch side. Prices weren't any better than home, though. Not knock-offs; this is a true Coach store, set up just as all other Coach stores. The merchandise the same as stateside stores.

Yes, Coach handbag's. I've been to the one in San Juan and will go there this time as well. Was just wondering if there was one on St. Marteen. I would not want a knock off. Buying out of the US you can avoid the sales tax. That's why I asked. Thanks to those who understood and replied.

I don't know ... purchasing something that expensive in a foreign country just concerns me. Too much chance for getting ripped off. I'd sooner buy the item over the internet ... using a secure website ... before purchasing it in a foreign country.

Just my over-cautious nature.

There is an outlet in the FLorida Keys and of course eBay remains one of the best sources for coach products.

Actually that's not necessarily the case anymore. I work for an Internet retailer (purely online, no "brick-and-mortar" locations) and the sales tax exclusion Congress originally enacted way back when to stimulate online retailing in its infancy has been changed a bit.

When a consumer buys something online from a retailer that has a physical presence in the consumer's state they are charged sales tax. For example, Coach has "brick-and-mortar" locations here in Texas so if I bought something online from them I'd have to pay sales tax. A buyer from, say, North Dakota (I'm assuming they have no stores there) would not. Then, if somebody orders something from my company and they live outside of Texas (where our corporation and distribution centers are located) they would also be exempt from the tax.

It then gets even more complicated. Forever Amazon (headquartered in Washington State) didn't charge sales tax, then states like Kentucky (where they have a big distribution center) said "hey, you should be paying us sales tax since you're basically a store" and so now there's big fight over that.

In short, the blanket exemption from sales tax no longer exists so don't be surprised if you are, indeed, charged tax just as if you'd walked into a store at the mall.

I would stay away from EBAY for Coach!!!! You will almost always get a fake for more than you can get in NY Chinatown! Not that I would know or anything.... Buy the real stuff legit from a store you trust or trust you are buying a fake and pay accordingly!:D

The same reason people buy Oriental rugs in Juneau, Alaska, I guess.

Not if Coach has a retail location in the same state where the purchaser lives.

You have to be super careful on eBay - a LOT of knockoffs posing as the real McCoy! From only pictures, it can be impossible to tell, as so many of the knockoffs look authentic in pictures, or fake pictures are posted and crap is sent.

I now only buy Coach straight from their website or from a storefront. Learned the hard way... :o

There are no Coach stores in Vermont, so I do avoid sales tax purchasing online - at least, I did the last time, if I recall correctly.

Those of us handbag maniacs know how much certain bags are worth so we know what prices to expect so as not to get ripped off. ;)

One of my good friends cruised last year and bought some Coach items at the San Juan store and got amazing deals. Crossing my fingers for the same luck for me! :D

There are no Coach stores in Vermont, so I do avoid sales tax purchasing online - at least, I did the last time, if I recall correctly. There used to be a Coach outlet in Manchester, VT... or there was a couple of years ago; it was right on Route 30, not too far before Route 30 crosses Route 7A. You might check that out. :) It might not be listed in their locations because it's an outlet store but call the Manchester Chamber of Commerce (802) 362-2100 ); they'll tell you. That's not too far away from you if you live in central VT. If that one isn't open, there's an outlet store in Tilton, NH (no sales tax.)

Once you become a Coach customer, they will send you offers once a year or more. I got 25% off my total purchase in November. You might be able to get on the mailing list by asking also. Florida cruise ports have Coach outlets: Key West and Sawgrass Mills (FLL).

I'm not going to St. Martin but I am very happy to hear there is a Coach store in San Juan. The reason I would search one out there, is because there are no stores that sell Coach east of Montreal and the Coach website does not ship to Canada. My only source for Coach is when I travel. I suppose I could order from a department store in Toronto or Montreal but they are so much more expensive that I prefer to buy them when I travel.

Manchester is about 2.5-3 hours from me, no easy way to get there from here... :(

I know you live in Vermont, but there is a Couch store at the outlets in Lee, Mass. It's right off the thruway and route 7.That shouldn't be too far a drive for you and they have very good prices.

I don't think so, hal lover. I've shopped at the Coach stores often in the USA...but, have never seen them in the Caribbean.

very good analogy to the horse drawn coach

Because its the place old studs go to buy saddle bags for their old nags if they ever want to get in the saddle again

The Little Switzerland shop on Front Street in Dutch St Maarten has a Coach section with recent styles/merchandise (as well as a Tiffany section). The prices are comparable to retail in the American malls and shops.

The Coach store in San Juan is an outlet and has a relatively large selection although the items may not be the latest styles that you'd find in the stores or on-line. I am not a slave to fashion and see no need to pay full price for the latest bag so I tend to shop more at the outlets.

Happy shopping!
