Took us a while, but Deb had to sort through about 5000 pictures from our five week adventure from Vancouver to Tampa on the Veendam. She finally got them down to about 350 in two albums. For those interested in seeing them just go to....

Tom and Deb,
What great photos. We were there with you, Jill and Joe. Your photos are really artistic compared to ours. The day at Boca da Valeria was the best. The kids were so cute. Thanks for helping us relive the cruise.
Best Wishes

Thanks for the great photos of the Amazon! We got on the Veendam when you got off.
An Amazon cruise is on our wish list.

The pictures were great. You included several places that are on my wish list. When you were on the canoe type boat on the Amazon, did you feel safe?
Thanks

We felt safe everywhere we went on the Amazon.
The canoes are quite large and the river is not at all like "open" water in the sea or lakes. In addition we only went in the canoes up an estuary of the river and to be honest it was quite shallow. In fact the locals push tree branches into the water to mark the "deep water" for the canoes. We saw a Heron standing about 100 yards off the bank and the water was only up to its knobby little knees.
If you are talking about the Pirhanas, Anacondas, and Camans it never crossed our minds that they may have been in the water around us...we never saw them in the water. We both got hit with small nasty smelling fish that jumped out of the water while the canoe was going full speed...LOL...I think there is a picture of the one that hit Deb in the batch we posted. That was our closest contact with the wildlife...except of course for the "pets" the Indian kids had to show us.
