We just returned from the 11/29 sailing of the lovely Eurodam. We had a fabulous cruise with very few negatives. We spent a couple days at the Hyatt Pier 66 in Ft Lauderdale. The hotel has recently been renovated and we enjoyed it very much. Dinner at the Pier 66 Grille was wonderful.

DH was up very early Saturday morning and woke me when the ships started coming in. What a spectacular sight to see those huge ships maneuver into port. Our first glimpse of the Eurodam was very impressive. We checked out of the hotel at 11:00 and made the short drive to Port Everglades. The only wait we experienced was traffic getting to the correct terminal. After dropping off our bags, we parked and made our way to the terminal. We were directed to the suite check in with only a few folks ahead of us. Having completed the online boarding pass, we simply filled out the health questionaire and within moments were onboard. Quick & painless!

I think the Eurodam is a beautiful ship - very elegant and understated. The fresh flowers everywhere were stunning and the Christmas decorations beautiful. The Silk Den and Crow's Nest were our favorite areas. So soothing to watch the world go by in either place.

Our cabin was SC 4181 which is a corner aft. The cabin was roomy and tastefully decorated. The king size bed was very comfortable with nice linens and a wonderful selection of pillows. Plenty of closets and storage space. As has been mentioned before, the placement of the TV on the front edge of the desk is very inconvenient. It blocks the window and renders the desk useless. The TV does swivel which makes it easy to view from the bed or sofa.

The dressing area has adequate light and space. I like the curtain that separates it from the rest of the cabin. I was not crazy about the stool at the dressing table - it was awkward and uncomfortable. There is a step up into the bathroom that took some getting used to. The bathroom was a generous size with a whirlpool tub and separate shower. Sufficient water pressure and the temperature easy to regulate. There were double sinks with glass shelves for toiletries -- love the elemis products. There was also a nice shelf under the sink with the waste basket recessed into it.

The aft corner balcony was great. It was furnished with 2 chairs with ottomans, a table with 4 chairs and around the corner 2 padded loungers. It was a little tight getting around the table, so we moved a couple of the chairs and it was fine. Loved the aft corner -- very quiet, private and magnificent views.

Thank you for your informative review. It is nice to hear some positives about the Eurodam for a change. We are sailing in April and also have an aft cabin but not corner.
We are right under the flag! Did you find that you had sun at some point during the day?
Do all aft balconies have loungers?

All aft balconies do not have loungers. I was in 5192 and it had 2 chairs, 1 ottoman and a small table.

We sailed next door (4183) in Sept. Admit to being a little envious of our neighbours in 4185:). Corner aft cabin... my dream location. So glad you enjoyed the Eurodam.
Thanks for posting your review. Looking forward to more.

There was quite alot to be positive about. We were on the Westerdam last year and we thought the service and food were every bit as good. Actually, the Pinnacle was better on the Eurodam and the Tamarind is not to be missed.

We liked that the balcony was covered and we still did have some sun on either the aft or side depending on the time of day or the position of the ship. We are hooked on the aft cabins now.

The next time on HAL, I would like an aft and especially the corner aft cabin. Are Aft cabins more expensive then other veranda cabins, if anyone knows that answer. Have a nice day, George

Kim,
Thank you for starting a review. Sorry Jim and I missed the M & G. He was actually not feeling well that day and was in the cabin. I wandered around a bit but kept checking on him and never got to the M & G, but we do appreciate that you set it up.
We found the Eurodam to be an elegant, lovely ship and one of our nicest cruises. Hopefully, I can say more at a later time.

Part 2

We had a pair of room stewards ( the names escape me) that were very friendly and efficient. By the second day they seemed to know our schedule and preferences. They kept the room spotless, the fruit was replenished and they left some very creative towel animals. We had received 3 gifts of champagne. The room steward made arrangements to switch it for wine. That was sone in just a few minutes. We sent landry out several times and it was nicely done. On one occasion, a dress was missing and an item not belonging to us was in our basket. One call to the concierge in the Neptune and the item was immediately picked up and my dress returned a couple of hours later.

The only minor complaint we had was on the last night we began to get a distinct rushed feeling. When we returned for the evening, the fruit bowl, one of the flower arrangements and all of the unopened toiletries were gone. We did not have enough left in the opened bottles for the two of us the next morning. We went for a very early breakfast on disembarkation morning and came back to find them already making up the bed for the next guests. It made me uncomfortable to think my room might have been made up while guests still occupied it. Having said that, I did cut him some slack because he was due to leave the ship that same morning and I am sure he was excited to see his family.

We tried almost all the dining venues and were very pleased with one exception. For us, AYW in the Rembrandt Dining room was a colossal mess. We never got the time or table preference we wanted. Service was disorganized - either extremely slow or hurried. The second formal night was very disappointing in terms of service although the food was very good. The Basked Alaska parade started as we were about to leave. Many around us missed it completely. I really felt it was for the benefit of the upper floor traditional diners and we were just curious bystanders. I also missed having the same servers every night and building a connection with them.

We dined at the Pinnacle two nights a a few times for breakfast. Every time the food was perfect and the service impeccable. The Tamarind is a stroke of genius. We loved the decor, the tranquil atmosphere, the delectable menu selections and the beautiful ladies who served us were the best. We ate there twice for dinner and once for lunch. We found it very curious that the second time we dined in both the Pinnacle and the Tamarind we had tried to get reservations and had been told nothing was available. However, both nights we took a chance and they were able to seat us immediately. There were quite a few empty tables in both restaurants every time we were there.

We enjoyed room service for breakfast a few times. The orders were always delivered in the desired time frame and exactly as ordered. The food was very good and served at the correct temperature. The pool grill had very good burgers and the pizza was just okay.

We liked the food in the Lido and felt like there was a good variety. Even though we never experienced long lines, it always felt crowded. There is simply not enough space between the buffet and the lower tables. We sat at one of those tables and were constantly being bumped into.

The bars and other public areas were beautifully decorated and comfortable - never felt crowded except in Northern Lights. We especially loved the Silk Den and the Crow's Nest. The casino was always very busy and nice to us! We very much enjoyed the entertainment we were able to see. The show times are a little inconvenient considerering the fiasco we encountered the 3 nights we tried AYW dining. A 10:00 show would be great. In Concert and Dream Park were excellent as was Justin Miller. We were able to catch a couple of movies. The seating is so comfortable and the popcorn a nice touch. We listened to some music and have to say we enjoyed the Hal Cats but not Lena.

I believe the aft corner cabins are all deluxe verandah suites (SA, SB, SC). Ours was an SC Deluxe and is less expensive than the others because it is so far away from the Neptune Lounge. This was not a problem for us and used it just as much this time as we did staying just a few doors down from it last year. Plus you still get all the perks such as Laundry, suite check-in, priority tendering, suite get-togethers, etc. I would book this cabin again in a heartbeat!:D
