The only way to avoid a deposit is to book less than 75 days from your cruise date. At that time there is no deposit but the full fare is due upon booking. There is also no early booking savings, less room selection, and less choice in dinner times.

You did good to do a $200 a person deposit, We usually pay $350. I don't understand your thinking. This cruise will cost you thousands more then likely-why are you worried about a $200 deposit per person. Eventually you will pay a whole lot more.

How long is your cruise? Book a shorter cruise for a smaller deposit. Leave off a person from your room, but you run the risk of not being able to add additional people/children later. Why are you looking to avoid paying a deposit?

If I'm at all unsure of going and don't want to be out the $ until I'm positive, I charge the deposit to one of those interest free for a year credit cards. All you have to make is the minimum payment each month until you know for sure.

Is there a reason why you do not want to pay the minimal deposit???

I'm guessing the OP wants to book but doesn't have the deposit money on hand right now.
Lot's of good ideas on how to "get around" having the cash on hand when booking.
