How would you rate the beds, pillows, and bed linens on the Ooserdam?
Considering either balcony room or possibley SS catagory. Also, are towels large and plentiful? It's been years since we cruised, and never on HAL. Still trying to decide between this ship and Diamond Princess for Alaska in May.

 Towels huge and very thick. Mattresses are new this year and they are Sealy Euro tops-----means one-sided and extra thich pillow top. Robes are very thick and heavy and one size fits all which means pretty big for women.

Pillows - I like firm pillows - found the new ones on the ships not to be very firm.

The bedding and sheets are extremely comforatable. I'd say the best I've ever slept on, seriously. The pillows are a little soft but for the 30 seconds my head was on it before I fell asleep it didn't bother me too much:p Towels and robes were great too. We stayed in an SS cabin - well worth the small premium from a regular veranda room IMO.

I was on the Oosterdam last week and no matter which cabin you choose you will enjoy the most magnificent bedding I've ever experienced on any ship. The mattresses were brand new, as previously stated, and firm but with the pillow top you were enveloped in a soft cloud-like feel. Hmmmmmmmmmm.............I want one of those beds.
The pillows were not outstanding, but fluffy (which I happen to like) and a lot better than you'll find in most hotel rooms or other ships.
Trust me .... you will be happy. I did not hear one single solitary complaint about the beds.

The bedding on the Oosterdam was the best :) :) !!! I'm a person that normal go to bed and get right up. But not on my cruise. I was taking afternoon naps, and staying in bed late. I slept like a dream!!!

Airlink Diva,
We were on the "O" 10/24/04 and believe we may have been the first to experience the new mattresses. We had an S suite with a king sized bed. I felt guilty about sleeping later than normal and taking naps.
I feel better now that I have read your post. My wife and I came home and told people we spent more time in our cabin than usual, and attempted to explain why!!!! No one seemed to understand. We even called Sealy to purchase the bedding, but they told us that was made exclusively for HAL.
We'll have to take another HAL cruise in order to get another goooooood night's sleep.

I just got off the Oosterdam. I was in an SS cabin and loved the bed. It was the best bed I've ever sleep in on cruise. This was my first HAL cruise. Do all the Vista class ships have these great new beds?

It is my understanding that HAL is outfitting all of their VISTA ships with this bedding and linens. It was heaven! and the linens...WOW!!! Was like sleeping in a cloud!
