I just realized that our cabin on the Westerdam has 2 beds and a sofabed. Is the sofabed long enough for a adult to sleep on? I thought it would be a pull down bunk. Has anyone ever slept on one of these sofabeds? We are 3 adult women in cabin 5128. Yikes!

I think the sofa bed is reasonably comfortable, and if it is not the greatest, you can always take turns sleeping in it so that no one person has a miserable night's sleep every night.

It will be tight with three adults in a standard cabin, but it is doable ... and it sure beats making the "odd man out" get a separate cabin and have to pay a much higher price.

Any chance you can "scare up" a fourth person and just get two cabins? Then everybody would have a regular bed.

Blue skies ...

We had 3 in a cabin last year. It was an SY with a sofa bed, we had plenty of room. My adult son slept on the sofabed and said it was pretty comfortable.

Just got off the Westerdam 12/07/08 we were in cabin 5055. Our 18 year old said her bed was comfortable and she had no issues. Just keep in mind that as long as the bed is turned down you have to crawl over it to get to the balcony. In the mornings, we usually folded up the bottom half of the bed. It made is a lot easier to get around while we were getting ready for the day.

We tried to find a 4th, with no luck. Glad to hear they are not to bad. We will probably take turns.
Thanks for all your quick response.:)

The sofa beds are very comfortable. I'm sure you will have no problem.

You should not have any problems. Remember there are a lot of public areas like the library or deck where you can go to read etc. Thus you will probably spend most of your time out of the cabin.

I was in a balcony cabin on the Volendam with my 2 sisters in a triple room. The sofa bed was a single. It did not open up like a pull out bed. When the cushions came off the sofa, the bed was under it. You sleep lenghtwise as if you are having a snooze on your sofa. So it did not crowd out the room when the bed was prepared.

My teenage son is almost 6 feet tall and has spent many cruises on the sofa bed without a problem. They look more comfortable to me than the pull down type.

I have slept on a sofa bed in a Category J cabin on the Zuiderdam about four years ago. I am 6' 4" tall, and had absolutely no problem with it. i preferred that to the other option of sleepinf in one of the narrow bunks that come down from the ceiling. Also, I found these cabins VERY spacious fo three!

We also had a category J cabin on the Westerdam. The three of us (my husband, adult daughter and I) took turns sleeping on the sofa bed. It was comfortable.

There was plenty of room (as ship cabins go) for the three of us when the sofa bed was out. We also had the two regular beds separated into twins.

It probably won't be that bad then. After all, you shouldn't be spending that much time in the cabin anyway ... so three should do fine.

The only thing you'll have to be cognizant of is scheduling bathroom and preparation time on formal nights, with everyone having to get ready. But that too is doable. After the first one gets ready, they can leave the cabin and go sit in a lounge, making more room in the cabin for the other two.

I've never shared a cabin with two other people, but have done it with one. It's all doable as long as everyone works together.

Blue skies and have a great cruise!
