We received our cruise docs but have not gotten a cabin assignment. I expect we will get one when we checkin. My question is: since we drop off our luggage first, what cabin number do we put on our tags? Do we leave it blank?

You should get cabin assignment with 7-10 days of departure, IF you do not have it by then they will have it at the pier when you drop off your luggage.

Keep checking the HAL website...the "Booked Guest" section. Often your assigned cabin number will show up there a few weeks before the departure date. In any event, the porters at check-in will have a master list showing up-to-date cabin assignments. (They'll also have extra luggage tags. On my larger suitcases I normally affix one to the top handle, and one to the side.)
