Hi,

Myself and 6 family members are traveling as a group on an upcoming cruise on the Oosterdam. We are confirmed for early set dining and our TA did specify in our reservation that of course we are traveling together and are a family -- this may sound strange, but they would not seat us at a table for 8 with one single not in our party, would they? Not that we are opposed to meeting new people, but I think it might be rather awkward given that this is a family reunion of sorts? Also, would they put us at a table for 10 with 3 people not in our party? Just not sure how they typically handle such a situation as I'm sure it does come up from time to time. Any ideas or past experiences with this? Thanks.

Yes, they possibly could. If your cruise is fully booked and they need the seats, it is possible someone else could be assigned to your table.

Seven people is most of a table for 8 but not all...... I agree the odd person would possibly feel very uncomfortable. More so than you..........

Request a table just to yourselves and most probably that is what you would get.

Yes they could.

There was just the 2 of us and we were seated at a table for 8 -- years ago -- and the other 6 people were part of a 50th anniversary group -- they had about 40 in their group. We felt like outcasts the first night as the other 6 at our table kept jumping up and down and running to the other tables.

Needless to say we were fotunate to be able to get dining table changed for the rest of the cruise.

Thanks for the feedback -- I just had not considered that this might be an issue. Regardless, I'm sure it will work out. I did email the Ship Services Coordinator and she indicated that the ship was sailing full and she would send a request but could not guarantee. As you stated, I would imagine it to be less fun for the extra person then an issue for us.
