:) We will be sailing on the Zuiderdam in just 5 weeks. :D I was wondering if the Z's casino takes tokens or good old fashioned quarters. Also, how does Half Moon Cay look after the hurricanes? Thanks.....Oink! :)

Have not been on the Zuiderdam but the other HAL ships I have been on take tokens.

the Volendam and the Statendam ... (and I'm pretty sure the Zaandam too) took coin and gave coin.

I posted a thread a few days ago describing what DH and I observed at HMC when we were there last Friday. The thread was entitled "The Paradise we call HMC"....or something like that. It is now either at the end of page one or onto page two.

At the Cashiers Desk in the Casino - you hand in real money - you receive tokens in return! Same on all the ships.

There are also money change machines - you feed in $10 bill the machine churns out tokens of your choice - 10 $1's - 2 $5's

You can have 10¢ or quarters too! - dime machines sometimes pay off well!

In my experience, the casino always wins!

:) Thanks for your replies cruisers. We seem to accumulate lots of change throughout the year. We like to use the quarters in the casinos while cruising because (mentally) it's like playing for free. :D

Five weeks till Zuider-time! :D Later....Oink! :)

So, take your change to the bank, get paper money and exchange it at the casino! I once won $1800.00 with the 3 quarter tokens I had spare - note the 'ONCE' :D

This was not the way it was just this last August on the Zuiderdam, we fed all the machines with real money, bills or coin.

I took my roll of quarters on board once and had to lug it back home because the machines took only tokens. It was one of the S class ships, don't recall which one.

Things change, though, and slot machines get updated with technology. Last trip to Las Vegas, the casinos were strangely quiet because they now print out (and accept) vouchers instead of all those jangly jackpots. Pretty soon, they'll just take the money electronically from your bank account and (if you're lucky) perhaps deposit some back in.

I dont know about the other ships but I know for a fact that on the Zuiderdam they use money, trust me I put enough 5 dollar bills in them to feed a small child hehehehe :) Sounds like the s class ships use tokens, the Zuiderdam is a vista class ship. Hope this helps :) Love the "oink" your too cute!

I am pretty sure they take bills but not coins and pay out in tokens which can be put back into the machines.

Is it just me or what but the OP asked only about the Zuiderdam! Talk about confusing!!!!
Oink, my best advice to you is possibly email the ship, I was on the Zuiderdam just 2 months ago and I used money, I put in money and got out coin which went right back in another machine, they were nickels, not tokens. I'm sorry you are getting so many different replies to your simple question, it really was not that complicated hehehe Also the "Money to burn" game was fun to play! :)

Oink,
I just sailed on the Zuiderdam on Oct 2nd and the slot machines will accept paper money like $5, $10, $20 dollar bills, etc... but if you cash out any credits it will give you your change in tokens determined by what denomination machine you are on. Like a quarter machine spits out 25 cent tokens. These can be redemeed at the cashier window for the real thing when you are done gambling. Hope this helps.....

OK now I'm totally confused !!!! hahahaha they must have changed them, at any rate bring your change , you can always cash it in, or better yet why carry all the extra weight, cash it in here :) Have a great time, please report back on how well you did!
