Has anybody stayed at or heard anything about the Clarion hotel in Merritt Island / Port Canaveral? I heard it is old, but is it OK or too run down?

Hi,

There's nothing wrong with the hotel. Have you already reserved, or paid for it? If not, I would take a pass--there are better locations. Unless you got it for 30 or so through priceline, I would check into any of the cocoa beach hotels. Days inn, comfort inn, doubletree, hilton, Radisson at the port. I'm guessing that you want a hotel the night before your cruise:) ? The days inn is oceanfront, right by the cocoa beach pier (restaurants, etc) and has rooms for 87 on their website. I've stayed at the hilton for 40 through priceline and my brother got his room at the doubletree for 42.

If you have any questions, just ask.

Thanks for the info. I had it resereved for $109. I guess I will cancel. The Radisson is $139 and includes two breakfast buffets and parking. Priceline isn't offering any 3 stars and the 2 stars are being rejected at $45.

Aren't the Hilton and Doubletree still closed?

Hilton and holiday inn are closed. Priceline won't have inventory for 3* there for a while. Hilton was undergoing a renovation before the hurricanes. At one time the target opening was mid-november. I don't know what it is now. The Radisson is a great location. Depending on what time you get to town, Grills seafood deck and tiki bar (www.sunrisemarina.com (http://www.sunrisemarina.com)) or Rusty's (www.rustysseafood.com (http://www.rustysseafood.com)) are withing 2 minutes away. Both have good food and are a great place to watch the cruiseships go out to sea.

Bill,
What kind of a place is Rusty's? We went to Grill's in August before our Mariner cruise and we didn't like it at all. Where is Rusty's located?

Is the Doubletree open?
