We are looking forward to our first cruise on the Celebration in February. We havent flown with a package airline for years so just wondered what the entertainment is like on the flights. Do you get films etc ? Do you have to pay for earphones ? We are flying from Luton to Tenerife, wondering about keeping the children entertained as they have only done short flights before. Thanks.

We recently flew with Thomson on a package to Lanzarote which I think will offer similar facilites. The film we saw on the way out was Mama Mia! and I think it was a family/children friendly film on the return. Neither of us can remembber as we didn't watch it. I think we also saw Shrek! once. They are general appeal type films of fairly recent releases - but there wasn't a choice just the one film each way.

In addition, when the film finishes (there is only one TV channel) there are some popular middle-of-the road TV progs like Gavin & Stacey/Vicar of Dibley/Black Adder type. I think Gavin & Stacey was on our fight last month but they will obviously change them from time to time.

There are also radio channels with different types of music but I don't suppose your children will be too bothered with those.

We took our own headphones but I think they were on sale for about £2 -£3. If you have some, I'd take them.

Hope you enjoy your trip.

Hi there

Yes there are overhead TVs and they show films during the flight- some are up to date (Mamma Mia this season) but some are a bit dated short films such as cartoons or Mr Bean.

There are also a few radio channels you can select.

The cabin staff come round selling headphones- about £2 a set I think.

I have seen cabin staff hand out entertainment packs to children- colouring book etc.Maybe you could take puzzle books and travel games to entertain them.Having the on board meal uses up some of the time.If you haven't ordered a hot meal they sell sandwiches and come round with 'drinks from the bar' or hot drinks a couple of times during your flight.

We are going on the Celebration in May.It will be my second cruise-I went with my cousin last year on the Emerald and absolutely loved it so this time I am dragging a reluctant hubby with me- he better like it lol!

We came back from the Celebration last week. The film on the way out was Mama Mia and on the way back it was The Mummy.
As others have said you could buy earphones or use your own as we did.

Thanks for all of your replies.
Hope its a good film when we go, that will keep the kids occupied.

Im a bit surprised about them showing Gavin and Stacey, I love it myself but its hardly family viewing ! I wouldnt let my children see it.
