"Ryndam Re-Launch via Webcast"
Friday, October 15, 2004 Vol. 5, Issue 23

Holland America Line employees are invited to watch the re-launch of the enhanced ms Ryndam live via webcast on Wednesday, October 20th.

Next week, the ms Ryndam will be the first in series of Holland America Line ships to have all of the Signature of Excellence enhancements completed. The ship is currently in dry dock in Victoria, B.C., undergoing massive refurbishments to include exciting venues such as a new Culinary Arts Center, Explorations Café and a new youth area with a fun teens-only deck.

Contractors from all over the world, including Italy, Norway, Sweden, UK, U.S., Canada, Mexico, Denmark and Ecuador are working on the ship. The crew is also working hard in the drydock, responsible for, among many other things, removing 700 mattresses and hand carrying 700 new ones onboard.

To help showcase and celebrate the completely enhanced ship’s first sailing (from San Diego to the Sea of Cortez) we will be re-launching the Ryndam at a very special ceremony with Madeleine Arison, the ship’s godmother and wife of Carnival Corporation Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Micky Arison. We will offer a first look at many of the new Signature of Excellence features such as the Culinary Arts Theater, Explorations Café, the Oasis and more.

The event will take place onboard the Ryndam in San Diego and we will be "beaming" it via satellite to the ms Rotterdam in New York City, where a distinguished group of press and travel agents have been invited to participate. We will also be transmitting this on a webcast to employees, travel agents, Mariner Society members and more.

Holland America Line employees are invited to watch the event via a live webcast (at 2:40pm Pacific time) that day. You must pre-register to be able to view the event, and please check with your supervisor to ensure that each department has proper coverage. To register, please click below or copy and paste into web browser. If you miss the webcast on October 20, you can watch it at your leisure as it will be posted for three months.

This sounds really exciting. It stated you could sign up if you were a Mariner so I Did.:p Now I just have to remember to go to the website on the 20th at 2:30 our time. I would guess I could also see her on the San Diego Web Cam. It did say if you signed up you could also view it later.

Westport, did you sign up to view it?

Thanks for giving us this information.

Indeed I did! Really sounds interesting. We will be on the Ryndam in Feb 05 and looking forward to any posting on the Culinary Arts Theater. In my old age I like to mess around in the Kitchen.

So that's what's up with the new illuminated "Ryndam" sign on the side of the ship! Really looks good!
