Egyptian pounds are readily available at the Post Office but if you've got any left over Euros or American Dollars they will accept those as well!! In Jordan we used some American Dollars we had left over from a previous holiday - I think they would take euros as well...we didn't need much as we did excursion to Petra which was the main cost.

It's not clear on the information I have so far, but our flight doesn't get to Sharm until 6:40pm, so hopefully it's after that!!

Hi Mtt
We've been on this cruise twice, April '06 and Feb '07.
All the excursions were good and we found it difficult to choose, so had to do the cruise again to go on the excusions we missed on the first one.
It all depends on what you want to do and your levels of fitness etc.
Went to Wadi Rum both times, this covers all ages as you tour the dessert on the back of a converted pick up(that's a vague description, but you will know what I mean if you go). My mum who is 67 sat in the front with the driver as she found it difficult climbing up to get in the back.
Petra and Dead Sea for the second day in Jordon.. Both really good, Petra has a lot of walking over various kinds of ground, there are camels, horses and cart if you want but you miss out on the tour guides commentary on the way down. Would suggest using them on the way back up as you dont notice the hill on the way down..
Dead Sea is a totally relaxing day and you cant really believe what everyone says until you've done it yourself.
The trips in Egypt involve long bus trips but they are definatly worth the effort.
We went on the
Pyramids & Museum - Enjoyed the museum but the tour guides pushed us round a little too fast and I prefer to look at things at my own leisure.. Visited the 'Mummies' room - a must if you take this trip.. the level of preservation is amasing.
Pyramids & Memphis - You have the option to go inside the pyramids, it very confinded and cramped, going down steep steps to get to the room, my husband is claustrophobic (not sure if I spelt that right) went to the door and looked in, and turned back. To be honest it was disappointing when my son and I got to the bottom, but at least we can say we went in.
Valley of the Kings on both trips - You visit Alabastor shops on the way back to the ship, I bought some the first time and wanted some more.. If you go, haggle, they expect you to pay approx 1/3 of the price they tell you first..
I personally wouldn't bother taking much Egyption curreny, you tend to get better deals if you pay in English Pounds, as for Jordon, the tour guide on the bus will change small amount but again they will take English or American.
Make sure you take plenty of £1 coins with you, as when you visit these places, you are surrounded by street sellers all selling there goods for 'one english pound'.
I hope this helps, but if you need any more info just ask.
I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself, I know we all did, after going twice in 12 months, I totally fell in love with the place and still want to go back several more times.. It is truly an amazing place, everywhere you look there's something of interest to look at and the details are unbelievable
just having a year off having a relaxing holiday instead of an adventure one.
