Hi to all the PG fans. Has anyone ever booked those funky C Deck cabins in the very stern that have the big verandahs? An agent at Regent convinced me these are a great deal. Smaller cabins but 75' balconies. These must be popular because most were sold out 10 months in advance. Would love to hear reviews. Thanks! Sailing again next July on the 10-day..THIRD TIME!

I'm sure some folks here have stayed in them. My TA discouraged me from trying one, but not sure of her exact reasons.

In the past, there have been threads about them. I'm not sure how easily you can find the discussions using the search tool. Some people have liked the cabins a lot, others have been less enthusiastic. Personally, I did not want to be above the La Veranda restaurant. I also think the balconies, while larger than the standard balconies, have somewhat less privacy. On the 24 nights we've been on the PG, we've always had a balcony cabin on the starboard side in the middle of the ship.

Really think you should book through a TA rather than Regent. Regent may try to sell suites that are the least desirable. JMO

We were in 765 and absolutely LOVED IT. Even more than our (more expensive) category B that we had our first time around. Yes, the balconies are bigger on some of the aft C's. 767 and 765 have larger balconies than the other aft C's.

The only other major difference is the bathroom has a walk-in shower only (vs. a shower/tub combination). We loved this, as the bathroom felt much larger than what we had in our category B.

Lastly, we loved being on the aft during sailaways - what a great vantage point! I wouldn't hesitate to book an aft C again - in fact, I would waitlist for it if one were not available.

Wow, that's interesting! We were in a B last month, and although I really liked it, the bathroom and closets were identical to the standard cabin. What about the closet space?

Was there any smoke noticeable on the balcony? That is one thing that concerned me, since the PG seems to have a fair amount of black smoke coming out of its stack, and at times that has bothered me out on deck in La Palette.

Thanks for the replies...seems like votes on both sides..I usually like midship away from noise, smoke, and stuff, but the VIEW aft sounded good. Taking my chances. next summer can't come soon enough. Anyone seen the "improvements" i.e. all the new balconies on D deck? Who remembers the cigar bar?

I seem to recall that the closet space was pretty much the same for both cabins. No problem with that black smoke at all for us, on either cruise, at any area on the ship, although I do know what you are talking about, we could see it from time to time. Guess we had some nice breezes! :)

azgkrudi, wow you were lucky to get 765. We waitlisted once for it for over 10 months and then gave up. I think those 2 larger cabins on the aft are the best buys on the PG. I've only read of one account of people noticing soot on their balcony. No one else has ever reported it. A small chance to take if you can snag one of those cabins and all you would have to do is wipe the chair down before being seated just to make sure so no big problem. I don't think being over the restaurant would pose much of a problem either as it does shut down at a reasonable hour. I just love the aft overlooking the wake and would be in heaven with such a location.
How far out did you book yours?

Hi Pat! I believe we booked almost a year in advance to get 765. We lucked out. I totally agree with you, the two larger aft cabins are the best value of any C's on the ship. Unless you must have a bathtub, that is.

Hi, azgkrudi, well looks like you booked far out too. Guess it's just the luck of the draw. Who needs a bathtub on the PG. The entire Pacific ocean can be your bathtub the water is so warm. Gosh I can't wait to return. We leave on the Tahiti Ring of Fire segment, 4 weeks from tomorrow. I've got the Tahitian flu that's for sure.

Thanks for the info......I had just posted this question on a previous thread. We are in 765 in 4 weeks. From what the schematic shows on the PG site, it does look like the balcony is larger. Having been in an aft balcony on the Tahitian Princess what we loved, (Besides the 180 degree aft view) was the lack of wind while under sail. At night you can (but aren't supposed to) leave the door open and all you hear is the soft churning of the waters. All of the sailaways are just spectacular. We had several parties, one of them held 12 people on the balcony.......and room for more as the Tahitian Princess' balconies are 15 feet deep. It's one of the great secret of cruising....IMHO.
