Hi everybody.
I read somewhere that the Noordam will be in Dry dock just before she leave for her transatlantic journey next 3 april.
Is it true ?
What kind of improvement are they going to make ? Do you think they are going to add another speciality restaurant ?
When this refurbishing take place (late march ??) and where ?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

The Dry docking is going to take place in Freeport in the Bahamas. I doubt if they will add another restaurant but they may move the Internet Cafe up to the Crows Nest like the other Vista Class ships (hopefully not!).
Unlike the other recent Vista class dry dockings they will not need to add the extra cabins to the Noordam as she was built with them.

Freeport is where HAL has been doing a lot of the 10 dry docks the last couple of years.
She may also be getting the Marabell (?) Jewelry shop.

The Marbell - I don't know its exact name -- but it is a very expensive jewlery shop. I have rarely seen anyone in them. But if they sell one or two items -- that's all that counts.
They will do a lot of deep rug cleaning, painting here and there -- maybe change mattresses if some are worn out.
I haven't heard if the Crow's Nest is going to have the Explorations Cafe moved up there or not.
I am sure that some of the "IN" crowd will know.

I see no need to "rearrange" the deck plans on the Noordam. On these boards we've read glowing accounts of this wonderful ship just as it is. I've been fortunate to have cruised 68 days on the Noordam and would feel a personal loss if anyone "messed" with it. It's just fine the way it is.
As for moving the Explorations Cafe, I vote an emphatic and boisterous, "NO!!!".

Thank you for the answers. KK and ctsally and bishop84
I've sail last November on Noordam and I don't want either any changes.
Where can they put Internet Café on Crows Nest ???
Do you think we're gonna have another crew shift for this Transat ?

The HAL site does not have the "dual deck plans" for the Noordam that the ships have which will be undergoing large changes this year (Oosterdam, Rotterdam, Statendam, Veendam), and from that I conclude there will only minor sprucing-up and repairs ... not even a Merabella Luxury shop.
Where can they put Internet Café on Crows Nest ???See HAL's site for the deck plans of the Westerdam and Zuiderdam. The Oak Room is eliminated, and the starboard side of the CN is converted to the Explorations Cafe.

sounds like general sprucing up for the Noordam
The premium line also is making additional enhancements to the first three Vista-class ships, carrying on the spirit of Signature of Excellence. The fourth Vista-class ship, ms Noordam, was delivered in February with all Signature of Excellence enhancements installed, including an Explorations Cafe and Pinnacle Bar. These venues, which have been enthusiastically received by guests on Noordam and the rest of the fleet, will be added in the next few years to ms Westerdam, ms Zuiderdam and ms Oosterdam. Those ships also will receive new aft staterooms, increasing their guest capacity to 1,918 -- the same as Noordam. All of these changes go beyond the original scope of the Signature of Excellence program. The spirit of excellence also is reflected in the new namesake Signature-class ship, which will be named in the near future and debut in the summer of 2008

There are always crew members coming and going.
Some may leave right before the dry dock as their contract may be up and it is time for them to go home for awhile.
Others will replace them.
This goes on all the time on all the ships.
