I have noticed that HAL does not offer Golf excursions online anymore. My questions is do they offer it once you are on board or has anybody book the golf on their own?
I already booked for Cozumel but looking into Jamaica, has anybody played a round in Jamaica lately and did you book on line....

If you are sailing on the Oosterdam there is a golf pro, at least there was last December, and he will make all arrangements for golf after you are on board. My DH played with him in Cozumel and Nassau.

On the Prinsendam there was a golf simulator - your could "play," for a fee, on several courses.
I think some of the other HAL ships may also have simulators
I know that it's not like the real thing - but no one ever loses a ball (or a club, for that matter).

DH & DS played together (a Shorex excursion) in Antigua, but that was the only we offered on our cruise...
Sounds like Peaches has a good idea. :)

The Prinsendam has a golf pro who I think can help book golf excursions on shore. The simulator is in a very nice lounge area, and the pro (wish I could remember his name) is very friendly and helpful. He had simulated games scheduled most days, and also ran a "closest to the pin" tournament.

Thanks, ekerr. I have no idea about the other ships, but since Debi has 'Oosterdam Golf' as her subject, I do know that on the Oo they did have a golf pro and he loves to play off ship with pax at the best courses on the islands. DH had a great time. :)

DH & DS had a fantastic time too. They were paired up with a really fun couple and enjoyed themselves immensely... biggest problem now- DH wants to bring his own clubs next time. Yikes! And he thinks I overpack.
I also love the putting competitions onboard - I won my "dam" Statendam coffee mug by sinking one of those putts. :)

Thanks everyone for taking the time to answer my question. I figured they had a golf pro and he could probably make arrangements. DH and brother-in-law will love this.
Thanks again

Deb you didn't say which cruise you are on but Jamaica has been taken off the Veendam Dec 11th cruise. Key West, Belize and Santo Thomas substituted.

If you happen to be booked in an "S" or "PS" Suite, the Concierge in the Neptune Lounge will happily make all arrangements for you to play golf in various islands.
Before this CC board switched to the new format, there was a wonderful post by a cruiser who shared with us the arrangements the Concierge made for her and her DH on at least 3-4 islands, including private transportation waiting to meet them at gangways, all arrangements made at various golf courses.....she said it was wonderful.
I think I remember who the poster was but hesitate to say in case I am wrong.

there was a very nice young lady who could hardly wait to get out of the simulator room and on the the various golf courses down south with the pax.

Lilpoppop - Sorry, we are doing the western... HMC, Jamaica and Cozumel... We were suppose to do Grand Cayman but so far they have given us an extra day at sea...YEAH.... I wish they would change our port for Jamaica, been there at least 5 times....
Sail - We are in and S cabin, I did plan on talking to the concierge when we get on board. Thanks for the advice, sometimes when you get down to the last 3 weeks before you leave you forget what you are doing....
Can you tell this is a much needed trip for us, thanks again everyone...

Debi I think my message wasn't clear. HAL has cancelled going to Jamaica and Grand Cayman for several vessels for the rest of the year in the western Carib sailings. What are you on?

Lipoppop - I spoke to HAL and we are still going Ocho Rios. The port that they are not going to is Montego Bay, I was told that the port there was hit hard but not Ocho Rios. We will be in Ocho Rios on the 17th of November. Hope that helps....

Was just on the Oosterdam. There is a golf simulator and the golf pro is Leoni. She says that she goes golfing with the shore excurison golf groups. So I would assume you can sign up onboard.

Go to Hollandamericagolf.com or link to it through the activities page on the main HAL website. It seems to have reservation capability.

seapointer - Great spot, we booked everything right on the the site. Now I will just have to make sure that we have the tickets when we get onboard.
Thanks again,

If you slice a ball into the sea does one holler "fore" or "four"?
