I was just wondering if someone could clarify the information I have read here on the Cruise Critic site regarding toddlers on Disney Cruises.
It states under the Family section:
"Flounder's Reef, the nursery on board, takes babies as young as three months (up to 3 years of age). There is a per-hour charge of $6 for this service, but it allows parents time to be on their own, for dinner in Palo or a trip to the spa, for example."
Does this mean that this is the only place on the ship that you could leave a two year old if you wanted to go and lie by the pool for an hour lets say?
Or would this only be in the evening if you wanted to go for dinner and needed babysitting services?
Are they basically saying that at any time a child under 3 will cost $6 an hour but that it is free to leave a child over 3 with the kids club?
Thanks!

Yes, that's exactly what they are saying. There is no where else you can leave a child under 3 on the ship. Kind of a bummer, but understandable I guess.

The way Flounders works is that you sign up for blocks of time when you board. They will tell you the various options and you choose your top 3 slots. We did Palo reservations first then Flounders and got the blocks we requested.

It's not an open drop off system.

The kids seem to like it there. It's not as convenient as the kids clubs, but you don't pay as much for an infant anyway.

We took our 2 year old on DCL and he did fine in there, but it was only a 4 day cruise. I'm hesitant to go for any longer with our 2nd child without more childcare options. Most cruise lines don't have a lot of babysitting choices for that age.
