What a week!!! What a ship!!! What a crew!!! What a great place to call home for a week!!!

We just returned last night from the 1/17 sailing of the Eurodam. It was a great week that contained few glitches! The trip started off a little rocky as our connection from Philadelphia to Fort Lauderdale was severely overbooked and nineteen of us were stuck overnight. Luckily, we were able to get on a plane right away Saturday morning and arrived at the pier around 11:30. Once are bags were taken at curbside, the first attendant we spoke with asked our room number and directed us were we needed to go saying "Oh, we have Captain Kirk on board and he'll beam you right up". Boy, he wasn't kidding! He directed us to a representative named Barb who escorted us to the suite check in (where there were no lines). We were quickly issued our room keys and Barb escorted us on to an elevator, past the embarkation photo line up and on to the ship where Patricia from the Neptune lounge was waiting for us. She had called for the Hotel Manager, Mark, to greet us. He must have been busy, as his assitant showed up to greet us instead. From there Patricia took us to the Rotterdam level and gave us a tour of the Neptune and escorted us to our room. We were in our room relaxing before noon...which was awesome as we spent the previous night without our bags as they were waiting for us in FLL while we were in Philly.

Our stateroom, Penthouse 7036, was incredible!...definetly worth every penny. We especially enjoyed the hot tub and dinning area on the verandah, the tub for two in the bathroom, the wonderful shower with jets gallore, the sound system, and the ample closet space. Service in our stateroom was top drawer! Harson and Rudi did an excellent job at keeping our room clean and well stocked...never intrusive and always polite and friendly. Around midweek they left us a lobster as our towel animal. We had fun recreating their creature in different sizes to make a lobster family for them. We left money in the claws of each as a fun way to leave them a midweek tip. They thanked us for the laughs and said that that was a first...no one had ever left towel animals for them! The other area of service in cabin that was more than acceptable was the service we recieved from our room service attendant, Juun Ari (sorry, I think I butchered the spelling). He was there every morning right when we were ready for breakfast on the Verandah. He may not have been there when we asked him to be there, but he was always there when wanted him there. I told him one day, "Your an hour late, yet right on time", as we weren't ready for breakfast when we requested delivery. Asking him how he knew when to show up, he said he has learned to adjust the times depending on time zone changes and the previous days port. Excellent job!!! We never once found ourselves waiting for breakfast, or anything else for that matter. Compliments also to the kitchen for always delivering what ever we requested and at the correct temperature. They made our breakfasts very special!!

We had breakfast in suite every morning, ate lunch only once in the Lido, snacked often in the Neptune (the chicken and steak wraps are out of this world), and enjoyed dinner three times in the Rembrandt, twice in the Tamarind and twice in the Pinnacle. All of our meals were good, but standouts include the Ribeye in the Pinnacle and the Risstafel in the Tamarind. We really had a blast with our servers in the Pinnacle...they provided excellent service and were so much fun to visit with.

We didn't see all of the evening shows, but those that we did see were great. We had a great time listening to Julie Barr (comedian) and Joel Mason (Elton John tribute artist). On the last night I competed in the Karaokee Superstar contest and had a blast when judge Julie Barr joined me on stage and molested me as I sang. It was a fun show that we put on!

My bride and I were definetly youngsters on this cruise at 31 years, but it was just what we were looking for. We've already booked our next adventure...the 7 day Mexican Riviera on the Oosterdam next February! Can't wait!!

I've got tons of detailed photos of the trip, but am in the middle of a move and won't get them up right away...but eventually!!!

So glad you enjoyed your cruise and that the penthouse worked out. Sadly, I'll probably never sail in the penthouse but at least I get to sail.

We also enjoyed the Penthouse Suite on the Eurodam in December but we were in the one across from you. I agree that it was an amazing room and experience! Glad you had a good time. Any problems with creaking noises in your room during rough seas? Thanks for posting. Cindy

Thanks for the nice review of the Penthouse "Mrs Peck" or "Mr Speck" depending on how you read your screen name - after reading the review I am guessing it is MR. :D :D :D

Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention that. I was worried about the creaking as others had mentioned it about the room you stayed in. The first night my worries were confirmed and I got very little sleep. I finally got up around 5:00am to start searching for the panels on the ceiling that the noise was coming from. I quickly realized the the majority of the noise was actually coming from the doors that connect the dinning and bedroom. I opened them and never had a problem sleeping again, as long as the doors were never closed. Not sure if this is a problem on the starboard side, but surely an issue with 7036 on the port side. So, if you book 7036, keep the doors to the bedroom open!

Thank you for the wonderful review. Have you had a chance to upload your pictures? We have the same cabin this coming Saturday. Can't wait.

We had a bit of a problem with squeaky bedroom doors on the Noordam, but once we found that you could lock them in place, the noise went away. We loved the PS and found it a very workable layout. I'm glad that you enjoyed the suite, and had a wonderful cruise. Thanks for posting.
