Booked a cruise recently and did not give my mariners members number, is there any benefit to pass on this information to Holland & America. Cruise is not till July 2009.

I would suggest informing whomever you booked with of your mariner status and your number. Often times there is a benefit in regards to pricing. In this economy every little bit helps!!

We Mariners, according to the rumours were suppose to hear about the "new" Mariner's perks in early 2009. So far we are still waiting to hear the news. Take care.

On the HAL website under for booked guests there is a Mariners page that lists the current benefits. Notify HAL and keep your profile up to date.

If it were me, I'd give them the numbers so the cruises will be matched to your Mariners' numbers in HAL's data base.
There is a Mariner's party on board which gets mixed reviews at best.
Otherwise, there aren't any perks to amount to anything, in my opinion, but lots of promises about the future.

In pricing our trip yesterday, we got about $60 each off when the mariner number was given.

Our price was also considerably better with our Mariner's number than without it. I don't remember the exact amount of the savings.

Glad to hear about the discounts. Maybe there are some Mariner perks after all.

Compared to some of the frequent traveler perks on other lines, I don't see much offered by HAL. A friend is a RC frequent cruiser and he gets things like free internet minutes.

Maybe I'm just easy to please, but I think the Mariners' Luncheon is a very nice event, and we never miss it. If HAL does expand the benefits, I hope they retain the luncheon.

Either a discount or an upgrade.

Thanks for all replies, already booked cruise so will be to late for a discount, but would be more than happy with an upgrade. Think I will update my Holland & America profile and see what happens.

And those free minutes come in handy ... especially when the connection gives one a hard time.

Well, for me the true benefit of being a HAL Mariner is being aboard a wonderful Holland America Line ship AGAIN. :p
Granted, the 'perks' aren't great compared to what a lot of other lines offer. So you get a nice brass pin, some delft tiles and the occasional glass of cheap champagne?
The REAL perks are the same things that made you decide to sail HAL for a 2nd (or 20th, or 200th!) time. Very good food. Nice ambience. Beautiful sailing vessels. Wonderfully attentive crew. GREAT beds. Nicely sized staterooms. Free Room Service. Fresh Flowers everywhere. Exciting Itineraries.
And ALL of this at a price not much different than you'd pay to sail on a HUGE ship with (sometimes) questionable amenities.
Why are 80% (my guess) of passengers on all Holland America sailings Mariners?
The same reasons we all are.

On the longer voyages, its wall to wall Mariners and a handfull of first timers. But then who would book a 67 day cruise as their first trip???
I also enjoyed the Mariners Lunch, which is something rather new (In the last few years or so).
We have not saved anything on cost, as our On line TA discounts below the Mariner rate for all their customers.
I like the medallions, although I cannot for the life of me explain why.....

I recently read on another post that HAL invites you to the Mariner Brunch after you have reached 25 days sailed on HAL.
We currently have 21 days, but in March we will be on another 7 day cruise with HAL. Will HAL count this March cruise and give us an invitation to the luncheon, or do we need to fully complete this cruise before we qualify? Thanks!

Normally they count the days to the end of the cruise you are on. If they have a Mariners Brunch you should be invited. Take care.

Hopefully it'll be soon. I'm just surprised that no mention of it was made in the recent edition of the Mariner magazine.
Seattle loves to keep us in suspense ... :D

Thanks for your response. This is good news. We enjoyed the brunch last year. But since the Mariner Perks changed, I'm hoping we don't get left off the invitation list this time.
