Happily, I got the last available cabana (Violet). Unfortunately, it's also the farthest distance from the dock. I thought I read somewhere that a shuttle or golf cart type transportation is available to get to the cabanas. Can someone tell me if that is the case? One of our party has a hard time walking and I don't know if he'll be alble to walk all the way to #15.

Thanks.

You will get a priority tender pass along with your cabana ticket and a sheet to fill out with drink preferences, time you wish to go to your cabana etc. A open air vehicle (larger than a golf cart) will drive you to your cabana. I always reserve the Terra Cotta cabana (it used to be the last one). You will love being way down the beach, other than a few walkers the beach will be all yours! The only disadvantage is the rest rooms being so far away.

Yes, there's an open air truck that will get you near your cabana. If your friend has trouble the staff seem more than willing to bend over backwards to help people get around on HMC.

I've also heard that they recently built a new restroom closer to the "far away" cabanas. Enjoy!

That's interesting...when we were there in Oct 08, they just pointed in the direction to walk and which one would be ours, no offer for transportation but maybe that's because our cabana was closer than others. For the record, I was not impressed with the cabana experience. They came and took all our food and drinks away in the early pm while we were out enjoying the water. When we came back, everything was gone. When we complained that we still had several hours left, we were told that they had to start cleanup early in order to get everything done in time. I don't think we got our $$ worth. Next time I will just rent a floatie and walk to the bar for drinks and the buffet for food. Will save me hundreds.....just my two cents on the subject. Happy Sailing! PS people kept putting their chairs directly in front of our cabana stairs, blocking our entry. Many times we had to ask them to move and were given dirty looks when we did, like we thought we were special. We just wanted to be able to get in or out of the cabana patio. DUH! It was a big pain in the butt. Every time we went out to enjoy the water, we had to ask people to move when we got back. Guess they noticed it was the only plot of sand not occupied at that particular moment and thought they'd claim it with their chair or towel.

I agree with those who say the cabanas away from the crowds are the most enjoyable. It is very relaxing, not as many people in the water and in chairs on the sand. There were two ships at HMC on our day and we never had a problem with anyone blocking our entrance. We were the second from the end. We could have had a ride to our cabana but chose to walk. The ladies at the check-in for the cabanas were not very nice or helpful but I'm sure if you need a ride they will get you one, because there is transportation from the dock down to that end of the beach. Don't let their poor attitudes detract from your day. You never know who they had to deal with before you arrived!!!

The only problem we did have was the food being removed a couple of hours before we were leaving as the previous poster stated. That was a bit upsetting to me and I asked if we couldn't keep the guacamole and chips so he scooped the guac onto a napkin. We told him to leave the drinks and he did. It might be worth a word with the person in charge of the cabanas that day and ask that your cabana be left alone until the end of the day. We stayed until the very last minute we had to leave and were sort of running down the beach to make sure we made the last tender. There was a truck going back and forth along the path though if you wanted a ride.

We did not eat lunch on the island because we had a late breakfast and were just enjoying the snacks. You could go to the bar-b-que area and bring back lunch to have at your cabana so that everyone does not have to walk down.

I think you will enjoy your cabana and it's location. Cherie

If my memory serves me correctly, the green cabana, #10 was in front of the restrooms.

I have cabana # 11. Do you remember seeing any shade? TIA

I am going to be there in 15 minutes so I'll ask them about this and post what I found out later today. :)
