We will be in Rouen on May 30 at 11:00 am 'till Midnight. We would like to take a tour bus into Central Paris to do one or two Art Museums and then have Dinner by ourselves :) and then return to the ship on the bus that would pick us up in Central Paris. Does anyone know of such a bus trip. If this does not work we will take the train. Thank you for any help you can give us on this.

I would hate to rely on public transport in France on a tight schedule at any time but particularly in the current economic climate! Strikes and public protests are just too common.

We are also on that cruise. The train from Rouen to Paris is direct, takes about 1hr 15-20 min. It costs 10 or 15 euros each way depending on class. However, the last train leaves Paris at 8:20 which really makes having dinner in Paris rushed. I'd wait to see what the times were for the Paris bus. Since the ship sails at midnight, you may opt to take the bus. It is a sure thing. You can't miss the ship, and if they stay in Paris later, dinner will be very nice. Although, consider staying in Rouen. It's very quaint. Also, Giverny is outstanding. And, the tour of Omaha Beach is excellent. I've seen them all in the past 2 years. You can't go wrong. However, the one to skip is Mont St.Michel when the ship is in St. Malo...it's a real tourist trap. It looks great from afar, but up close it is dirty.

I believe my folks are on this cruise too and I remember my mom saying that there is a ship sponsored bus into Paris and back... that is one way to ensure you get back and forth without missing the ship... it does cost more but sometimes peace of mind is worth it...
Counting the minutes until our 2/24 Journey sailing :)

We were in Rouen last year (driving trip - not cruise) and I have to echo Redtravel's comments that there is a lot to see in Rouen alone and Giverny was beautiful. So unless you're set on a trip to Paris, you can spend time in Rouen visiting all the sights. I do have to disagree about Mont St. Michel though. We really enjoyed our walk to the top of the Mont and seeing the church. Yes, there are a lot of tourists, but hey - that's what we were there for too.
