We are taking the Mediterranean Tapestry cruise that departs from Barcelona. We stay on the ship there overnight. Our flight arrives in Barcelona at 8:25 a.m. Do you know if we can take our luggage to the pier and check it in so we can take off and start our touring of Barcelona, or do we have to wait until actual check in of passengers begins?

You may drop off your luggage and leave. But don't do it before the steveadores are there. I'm not sure when they arrive to start gathering passenger luggage.

That said, you won't be able to see much in the short time you'll have before you need to check in and board the ship. Maybe you can negotiate with a taxi driver to take you around town first thing, then head for the ship right after lunch.

Thanks for your help jhannah. I have been reading your posts here for a couple of years and consider your advice golden.

last year we boarded in Barcelona, and many were able to drop off luggage and take the bus back then walk or bike the city. We were comatose and visited with other passengers. It seemed most of the passengers flew in that morning.
