Hello, I recently found out that we got upgraded on our guarentee from VF to VB on the Westerdam. I found the location on the ship map but other than that, what are the differences in these categories?? Are they just changes in location on the ship, like higher level, etc? or do you get more things, more balcony space, etc?
any insights would be great. thanks.

They're the same category, so there is nothing extra you get. It's just real estate. The VF cabins are mainly on the Verandah Deck while the VBs are on the Upper Verandah Deck.
This type of upgrade is a two-eged sword. Lots of folks like being higher up. That's why they usually charge more for higher decks. But the VBs on the Upper Verandah are more forward and aft (less mid-ships) than the VFs down below. Some folks prefer a more mid-ship location. Six of one, half a dozen of the other as they say.

The VF balconies on some of the decks have solid steel veranda railings.
Congrats on your upgrade.

Vista Class Balcony Categories
VH- All the way forward, deck 4. Solid steel railing. Deck curves a little. Not totally rectangular.
VF- Little firther back on deck 4. Solid steel railing. Rectangular with no curve. -OR- Deck 5 slightly more midship, plexiglas railing but shallower balcony.
VE- Perfectly midship deck 5. Plexiglas railing. Shallower balcony
VD- Deck 4. Plexiglas railing. Deeper balcony
VC- Same as VD, but Deck 5
VB- Same as VC, but higher deck.
VA- Same as VB but higher decks, -OR- lower decks but deeper balconies and aft facing.
Hope this helps.

I'm not positive about this, but I thought the balconies on deck 4 were bigger than the balconies on the higher decks? The cabins are exactly the same in all the V class cabins.

The balconies forward on Deck 4 are larger (up to the VDs), the ones midships and aft are not as deep.
